Location: Gilliand Plant Project Title: Inspection Process Optimization Project Objective- what will the project accomplish? To enhance process flow, efficiency,reduce time between doffing, grading, and shipping materials, through the use of Lean Methodologies, Time Studies, and SMED principles. Successful completion of this project will result in reduced wait times at doffs, a more optimized inspection process, and minimized build-up in inspection areas. Important Timelines Scheduled Date 1 Initial Assesment - Current Flow Weeks 1 &2 2 Process Redesign - Proposed Changes Weeks 3&4 3 Pilot Testing - Understand Contraints /Testing Weeks 5&6 4 Full Implementation - Implement and Monitor Weeks 7&9 5 Documentation and Reporting - Sustain Week 10 (Wrap Up) Measures How will the sponsor know that project goals were achieved? 1 Reduced Wait Time- Machine Doff 2 Storage and FIFO 3 Inspection Effeciency /Throughput 4 Reduction in the number of times rolls are graded Deliverables What will the sponsor receive at the end of the project? 1.Data through BARCO showing a reduction in "Doff Time" 2.Create defined storage location for rolls going into OOF that utilize space avaible an enable FIFO. 3.Number of rolls graded per shift / OOF reduction 4.Reduce/Eliminate Rolls going back on Hold Resources What is available to assist in accomplishing objectives? 1 VOH PPI and Production Manager 2 Process Improvement Manager (Help with IE principles) 3 Production Assocaites 4 Engineering and Mainteance Services Bottlenecks What issues could impede progress? 1.New Associates / Off- shift Associates 2.Space Contraints 3.Cross functional Department Communication 4.Additonal equipment Installation - Re Roll Frame Timing Stakeholders - Who has a vested interest in the results?
