The Role
The Director of Procurement will lead and execute strategic procurement initiatives across Green Thumb Industries (GTI). This role will oversee procurement functions across capital expenditures, special large spend projects, and other key procurement categories involving direct categories. As a key leader within the procurement organization, the Director will drive cost optimization, supplier performance, and strategic sourcing initiatives while ensuring high-quality standards and alignment with business objectives. The Director of Procurement will collaborate with key corporate stakeholders, including Brand, Innovation, Engineering, Operations, and Construction, as well as Cultivation Sites and the Supply Chain Planning team. This role will be responsible for shaping procurement strategies that drive operational excellence and long-term financial success
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute a strategic procurement vision, ensuring alignment with GTI's overall business objectives.
- Lead high-impact procurement strategies across capital projects, special large spend initiatives, and other procurement categories.
- Partner with leadership and internal stakeholders to identify cost-saving opportunities, optimize vendor selection, and streamline procurement processes.
- Establish and manage key supplier relationships, driving performance, innovation, and operational efficiencies.
- Direct complex negotiations with suppliers, ensuring favorable contract terms and conditions that align with business objectives.
- Oversee procurement planning and purchasing activities supporting Direct Categories, supervising and mentoring team members to achieve operational excellence.
- Design and implement best-in-class procurement policies and procedures to improve efficiency and compliance.
- Lead the Capital & Special Projects Sourcing Process, including preparing RFI/RFPs, vendor evaluations, and selection.
- Serve as a key liaison between Procurement, Finance, Operations, and other departments to ensure seamless procurement execution.
- Implement robust tracking mechanisms and supplier performance metrics to monitor cost savings and vendor compliance.
- Function as the procurement subject matter expert (SME) for ERP system enhancements and optimization.
- Drive process improvement initiatives to enhance procurement efficiency and effectiveness.
- Operate with agility in a fast-paced environment, adapting quickly to shifting priorities and business needs.
- Focus on continuous process improvement, identifying inefficiencies and implementing best practices to optimize procurement operations
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in business, Supply Chain, Materials Management, Engineering, or related field; master's degree preferred.
- 10+ years of progressive procurement experience within cannabis, manufacturing, or CPG industries, with at least 5 years in a leadership capacity.
- Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities, with a proven track record of driving cost efficiencies and procurement excellence.
- Demonstrated expertise in strategic sourcing, contract negotiation, and supplier relationship management.
- Ability to develop and implement procurement strategies that align with business objectives and financial goals.
- Exceptional leadership and team management skills, with experience mentoring and developing procurement teams.
- Hands-on experience with ERP systems and procurement analytics tools; APICS or Supply Chain Certification a plus.
- Strong financial acumen and understanding of procurement's impact on financial performance.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and interpersonal skills to influence at all levels of the organization.

The pay range is competitive and based on experience, qualifications, and/or location of the role. Positions may be eligible for a discretionary annual incentive program driven by organization and individual performance.
