Responsibilities

  • Develops, tests, and supports end-to-end information security solutions, controls, tools, and techniques leveraging existing or new capabilities, patterns, and/or processes to govern and protect State Farm assets that reside on-premises and in the cloud
  • Develops, documents, and maintains information security infrastructure (on-premises and in the cloud) strategy, operational procedures, guidelines, and processes
  • Troubleshoots issues and works across departments to restore availability during outage or degraded performance situations
  • Conducts risk assessments and performs vulnerability assessments
  • Consults with business partners to design and apply security for their IT solutions
  • Applies infrastructure security concepts and practices in accordance with industry standards, security, risk management, and vulnerability mitigation techniques, and governance/compliance requirements
  • Evaluates vendor solutions and costs, and oversees on-going budget for the vendor contracts
  • Synthesizes solution design, architectural patterns, policy and regulatory frameworks, privacy considerations, and risks in the creation of holistic security solutions that span technologies and capabilities
  • Researches emerging infrastructure security topics, techniques, threats, capabilities, and solution options and recommends sunsetting capabilities and rolling out new ones in alignment with strategic vision and goals
  • Approaches security with an offensive and defensive mindset to build resiliency using security best practices while balancing the need to enable the business to meet their goals
  • Leverages data and uses an analytical mindset to discover traffic patterns, uncover security opportunities, and strengthen security controls
  • Develops and supports technologies pertaining to network security such as firewalls, proxies, and network access control (NAC), remote access, wireless security, voice security, distributed denial of service (DDoS) protection, intrusion detection/prevention, and anti-virus/malware protection
  • Develops and supports information security solutions for Zero Trust, Email security, Unix/Linux, macOS, Mainframe z/OS, Windows, mobile, big data, and cloud platforms

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Mitigate macOS-Specific Security Threats: Proactively identify, monitor, and mitigate threats such as macOS-specific malware, adware, ransomware, and unauthorized access attempts.
  • Ensure Compliance: Maintain compliance with industry standards and organizational security policies specific to macOS environments, reducing the risk of regulatory penalties.
  • Enhance Threat Detection and Response: Develop and implement advanced threat detection and response capabilities tailored for macOS, ensuring rapid and effective responses to emerging threats.
  • Improve Knowledge Sharing and Team Expertise: Facilitate cross-training and knowledge sharing within the macOS team and the broader IT and cybersecurity teams to ensure that specialized macOS security knowledge is widely distributed and not siloed. Serve as a subject matter point-of-contact on macOS security, providing guidance and insights to enhance the overall team's capabilities.
  • Strengthen Host-Based Firewall Management: Optimize and manage macOS host-based firewall configurations to control and monitor network traffic effectively, adding an additional layer of security.
  • Enhance Mobile Device Management (MDM) Capabilities: Deploy and manage MDM solutions tailored for macOS, ensuring devices are secure, compliant, and up-to-date with the latest security policies and software updates.
  • Stay Ahead of macOS Changes: Ensure the team remains current with the latest macOS updates, security features, and best practices, thereby maintaining a robust and resilient security posture.


Qualifications

  • 5+ years IT/Information Security experience
  • Security certification a plus. Suggested certifications may include Azure, AWS Cloud, CISSP, GSEC, CISM, CRISC, GCIA, GREM, GCWN, GAWN, GPPA, CCNP Security, or PCNSA
  • May develop and support solutions using contemporary automation, scripting, and/or programming languages and has knowledge necessary for effective DevSecOps partnerships
  • Responsible for the handling and maintenance of confidential and highly sensitive information
  • Experience supporting and/or pen-testing the macOS platform
  • Previous experience with MDMs (InTune, JAMF)
  • Experience with macOS Security applications a plus
