Job Description

The Vertex Co-op Program offers students the opportunity to learn about the pharmaceutical industry from a hands-on perspective. You will be working closely with and learning from some of the brightest people in the industry. Students can expect to be challenged by their project plan, connect with other co-ops,and feel valued by the Vertex community. Not only will co-ops learn about their day-to-day tasks through their specific work assignments, but they will interact and have exposure to our organizational leaders and their teams.

Job Summary:

As a member of Vertex's Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) and Corporate Responsibility (CR) team, the co-op will help research and advance key projects to support Vertex's ESG ambitions. The work will span multiple subject areas, including but not limited to environmental sustainability, access to medicines in lower income countries, and mandatory and voluntary external reporting. The wide scope of the role will allow the co-op to gain experience and exposure to a variety of functional areas across the business.

Key Responsibilities:

Potential assignments include:

  • Benchmark industry companies regarding ESG efforts, including positions taken on select ESG topics, and providing recommendations when appropriate
  • Support mandatory external disclosures including CSRD and country-specific disclosures
  • Assist with the development and entry of Vertex's annual CDP submission
  • Track current and emerging global ESG regulations, standards, and reporting frameworks - including the coordination of submission requirements and due dates across Vertex global entities.
  • Prepare presentation decks to support key meetings

Qualifications:

  • Graduate or undergraduate students pursuing a degree in sustainability, business, law, government or communication OR with demonstrated interest in health/medicine/public policy.
  • Excellent research skills.
  • Organized, efficient, clear communication and writing style. Creative.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate and work with a variety of colleagues.
  • Project management experience to support various workstreams is a plus
  • Experience with process documentation is a plus
  • Legal authorizationto work in the United States, now and in the future. Please note that Vertex does not provide sponsorship for internships or entry level roles within this part of the organization.
  • Candidate must be enrolled in an advanced degree program if graduating before July 2025
  • Candidate must be available to work full-time, 40 hours per week from July - December 2025

Program Dates: July - December 2025, Full Time

Pay Range 20.00 - 35.00 USD/hour
