Reporting to the Plant Manager, the Production Planning Manager leads all activities related to production planning, Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP), and inventory management. The incumbent is responsible for developing and executing production plans that align with business objectives, balancing customer demand, manufacturing capabilities, and inventory levels. The role includes working closely with other departments to ensure seamless integration of production schedules with sales forecasts, material requirements, and operational goals.

What will you do?

  • Develops and maintains production plans in alignment with sales forecasts and customer orders.
  • Oversees S&OP processes, ensuring clear communication between sales, production, and supply chain teams.
  • Drives demand planning processes to ensure efficient material usage, manufacturing scheduling, and on-time delivery.
  • Monitors and manages production schedules, ensuring that all customer demands are met while optimizing inventory levels and manufacturing throughput.
  • Works with the Product Team to manage phase-in and phase-out processes for products, ensuring smooth transitions between product lifecycle stages.
  • Analyzes inventory levels, forecasts accuracy, and supply chain performance, taking corrective actions where needed.
  • Collaborates with Supply Chain, Sales, and Operations Teams to manage capacity, production scheduling, and material planning.
  • Drives improvements to key performance indicators (KPIs) related to production efficiency, material availability, and on-time delivery.
  • Leverages Lean and Six Sigma methodologies to improve production planning processes, reduce lead times, and eliminate inefficiencies.
  • Manages supplier relationships and evaluate supplier performance to support production needs and ensure timely availability of materials.
  • Ensures compliance with production scheduling standards and drive continuous improvement initiatives within the production planning process.
  • Provides leadership, guidance, and training to the production planning team to improve team performance and ensure alignment with business goals.

What will make you successful?

  • Bachelor's degree in supply chain, business administration, or related field, OR 7+ years of equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of production planning experience in high-mix, low-volume manufacturing environments.
  • Experience leading teams of planners and procurement professionals.
  • Experience managing S&OP processes and production schedules for high-mix, low-volume businesses.
  • ERP/MRP system experience (Syteline and/or SAP preferred).
  • Strong project management and leadership skills, with the ability to integrate diverse viewpoints and manage production schedules across multiple teams.
  • Expertise in production planning, sales forecasting, and S&OP processes.
  • Proficiency in designing, deploying, and managing material flow pull systems in manufacturing strongly desired.
  • Ability to perform data analysis for forecasting, capacity planning, and production optimization.
  • Knowledge of Lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and analytical skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, for data analysis and reporting.

Plant Environment - This position operates in a manufacturing setting and can be subject to extreme cold and hot temperatures; uneven walking surfaces with cords, tools, and other obstacles; intermittent loud noises; and dusty or dirty conditions. Required PPE includes hard hat (when required), safety glasses, earplugs, steel toe/composite boots, and fall protection.
