DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this role, you will engage in a range of welding tasks that encompass welding, brazing, soldering, and metal cutting on both ferrous and non-ferrous materials. You will be responsible for executing cutting and welding operations utilizing various equipment such as arc, acetylene, or MIG welding tools on all machinery and equipment within the department. This may involve working on components like truck and automobile bodies, engine parts, trailer components, and more. Additionally, you will carry out repairs on the winter services equipment fleet, which includes plow frames, blades, and spreaders. Your responsibilities will also extend to fabricating replacement or new parts for the modification of existing equipment. Furthermore, you will operate a variety of power hand tools and air tools, including band saws, drills, drill presses, hydraulic presses, electric pipe threaders, air compressors, air hammers, and air wrenches, as part of your welding and fabrication tasks. - Full-time employment
- Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Three years of experience in the operation and use of welding equipment, materials, and related shop equipment to repair, maintain, or fabricate parts, equipment, or structures; or
- Completion of a three-year, high school Vo-Tech training program in welding and eighteen months of experience in the operation and use of welding equipment, materials, and related shop equipment to repair, maintain, or fabricate parts, equipment, or structures; or
- Completion of an approved welder apprentice program; or
- A welding certificate D1.1 from the American Welding Society; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training.
Special Requirements:
- This position requires possession of an active Pennsylvania Class C Driver's License.
Additional Requirements:
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
Post-Employment Requirement:
- Must have or be willing to obtain the welding certification to be able to weld on bridges within the six-month probationary period.
