2025 Summer Intern - Safety, Health & Environment Department

Department Summary:
Roche Molecular Systems located in Branchburg NJ (RMS - NJ) is committed to conducting its operations in a manner that protects the environment, and the health and safety of our employees and the communities in which we operate. We believe that Safety, Health & Environmental (SHE) awareness and best practices are critical and essential components of all activities conducted at our site, and we are committed to proactively seek to employ new, more sustainable technologies and processes to minimize our impact on the environment. As an intern working within the SHE Department, you can help us make a difference!

This internship position is located in Branchburg NJ - On Site.

The Opportunity:

  • Learn the elements of a comprehensive Safety, Health and Environmental program.
  • Assist the SHE Leadership team with a continuous improvement effort of revising and implementing programs in each of the disciplines of Safety, Health or Environmental so that the intern learns about each aspect of the profession.
  • Work on our inspection process in our Enablon software database. Enter the checklists, verify they function with users, develop metrics, identify how findings are tracked and closed.
  • Assist in updating the existing SHE metrics, creating dashboards, reports, presentations, etc. used to promote safety awareness and understanding throughout the organization.
  • Assist in the updating and development of new Safety Topic of the month information to be used throughout the operations.
  • Assist with organization of the SHE website and documentation processes, along with upgrades for ensuring appropriate documentation retention.

Program Highlights:
* Intensive 12-weeks full-time (40 hours per week) paid internship.
* Program start dates are in May/June (Summer)
* A stipend, based on location, will be provided to help alleviate costs associated with the
internship.
* Ownership of challenging and impactful business-critical projects.
* Work with some of the most talented people in the biotechnology industry.

Who You Are (Required)
Required Education: You meet one of the following criteria:

- Must be pursuing or have attained an Associate Degree.
- Must be pursuing a Bachelor Degree (enrolled student).
- Must have attained a Bachelor Degree (not currently enrolled in a graduate program).
- Must be pursuing a Master Degree (enrolled student).

Required Majors:
- Encouraged to apply are candidates studying any of the following preferred majors:
- Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Science, Biology, Chemistry, Public Health, Toxicology, Engineering.

Required Skills:
* Advanced computer skills utilizing Google and Microsoft software and knowledgeable of other apps
* Detail oriented, critical thinking, solution oriented problem solving
* Ability to work independently, with moderate oversight
* Time management

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Qualifications:
* Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
* Complements our culture and the standards that guide our daily behavior & decisions: Integrity, Courage, and Passion.
* Knowledge of risk assessment

Relocation benefits are not available for this job posting.

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of New Jersey is $25.00 -$40.00 hour. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. This position also qualifies for paid holiday time off benefits.
