Are you a High School Junior or Senior and are interested in learning new skills to jump start your career after graduation? A Youth Apprenticeship is a great opportunity to gain new skills and get paid while still in school!

Under the direct supervision of a mentor, you will assist the weld department by performing the following duties:


  • Reads and understands American and European blue prints, geometric tolerances, and weld symbols
  • Properly sets up and operates Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW) and Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW) power sources to weld metal components together
  • Sets the appropriate wire feed speed, voltage, trim, and amperes for welding vertically, horizontally, and overhead
  • Selects the appropriate wire, shielding gas, tungsten, contact tips, and diffusers to weld on carbon steel, stainless steel, and aluminum
  • Sets the appropriate feed rates and properly positions parts to operate the horizontal and vertical saws
  • Uses the proper grinding and buffing pads for grinding on carbon steel, stainless steel, and aluminum
  • Inspects parts using height gauges, calipers, and tape measures and records the dimensional data on the inspection sheet


Education
High School Junior or Senior enrolled in a related Tech Ed class.
