DESCRIPTION OF WORK

BAPT is comprised of four divisions including Employee Services, Budget, Claim Accounting, as well as Policy and Training. The primary purpose of this position is to perform the role of one of four Bureau Deputies who make up the Executive Staff Management Team, along with the Inspector General, Chief Counsel, and Deputy Inspector General. The OSIG Executive Staff Management Team meets bi-weekly and conducts the business of the OSIG. At these meetings, future direction of the agency is charted and discussions are held on how best to meet the OSIG's mission as well as how to handle numerous operational concerns, legal, union, and other types of challenges. As Deputy State Inspector General, you will oversee all administrative functions of the OSIG, ensuring effectiveness and timeliness of provided services and compliance with OSIG and Commonwealth policies and procedures. You will have the opportunity to provide leadership, direction, guidance, and support to division chiefs, their staff, and clerical staff. - Full-time employment
- Work hours are 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 60-minute lunch.
- Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, up to 2 days per week. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS
Eight years of experience in progressively responsible and varied management or staff work, including personnel management, fiscal management, budgeting, or procurement; and such training as may have been gained through graduation from a four-year college or university; or Any equivalent combination of experience and training.

- You must have solid written and verbal communication skills.
- You must have the ability to multi-task.
- You must have experience handling and/or maintaining confidential information.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
Preferred Qualifications (not required):
- Experience overseeing the budget of an agency.
- Experience in purchasing and procurement.
- Experience overseeing the development, coordination, and implementation of agency specific training.
- Experience directing the development and implementation of policies and procedures.
- Experience in overseeing the hiring process and agency labor and employee relations.
- Experience in the criminal prosecutorial process.
Legal Requirements:
- Due to Act 29, the agency the selected candidate will be serving has limited law enforcement powers and requires all employees with access to agency systems to undergo fingerprinting and an in-depth background check to include criminal, tax, and credit history.
- This position will have access to Federal Tax Information (FTI) and is subject to the provisions of IRS Publication 1075 (Pub 1075) which requires you to pass an enhanced background check prior to beginning employment. Under Pub 1075, acceptance of a conditional offer of employment will require submission to and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to: a fingerprint-based federal records check; a PA State Police clearance; a check of local law enforcement agencies where you have lived, worked, and/or attended school within the last five (5) years; and a citizenship/residency verification.
