Job Description:

As Saab continues to grow, we are seeking a Manufacturing Engineering Manager who is interested in leading a team of Manufacturing Engineers at our East Syracuse, NY locations. The Manufacturing Engineering Manager will be responsible for a team of Manufacturing Engineers who develop and maintain assembly instructions, manufacturing routings, assembly jigs and fixtures, and line/cell layout. This position is also responsible for manufacturing engineering development, advancement of manufacturing techniques, and qualification of new products based on both Saab and customer requirements.

The Manufacturing Engineering Manager will be an integral link between the Design team and the Operations team. Responsibilities will include:

  • Leading the development of production systems and working methods.

  • Providing DfM feedback to the design team to achieve mature processes that yield a high-quality product.

  • Contributing to the development of new technical solutions, efficient production systems and assembly lines based on Lean principles.

  • Leading process planning for current and new products.

  • Leading development efforts related to production flows and lay-outs.

  • Driving continuous improvement for efficient production.

  • Leading the transition into updated ERP system including a Manufacturing Execution System (MES)

  • Planning Capital Expenditures to further existing capability and/or driving down operational costs.

  • Other project tasks related to facilitates, automation, and Project Management as assigned.

Compensation Range: $128,800-$167,400

The compensation range provided is a general guideline. When extending an offer, Saab, Inc. considers factors including (but not limited to) the role and associated responsibilities, location, and market and business considerations, as well as the candidate's work experience, key skills, and education/training.

Skills and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in either Manufacturing, Industrial, Mechanical Engineering or related discipline is required.

  • 5-7+ years of related leadership experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in Aerospace and Defense.

  • Ability to lead and manage change within a cross functional setting.

  • Demonstrated effective listening and communication skills

  • Ability to be principle based while navigating the constraints of the business.

  • Ability to effectively collaborate across functional areas within an operation

  • Ability to work well independently, as well as collaboratively in a team

Citizenship Requirements:

Must be a U.S. citizen. Applicants selected may be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
