Position Summary: The Senior Design Engineer will play a critical role in developing custom products, leading engineering projects, and optimizing manufacturing support. This position involves detailed design work, complex problem-solving, and cross-functional collaboration to improve existing product lines and develop new solutions for industrial applications. Key Responsibilities: Engineering & Product Design: * Develop and oversee detailed 2D/3D CAD models and engineering drawings for standard and custom products using Creo and AutoCAD. * Lead the engineering change process, ensuring design modifications align with quality, manufacturability, and cost objectives. * Conduct stress analysis to ensure structural integrity and product reliability. * Define design standards and ensure compliance with GD&T and industry regulations. Technical Leadership & Product Development: * Spearhead new product development, from concept design to testing and commercialization. * Guide the development of hydraulic and mechanical systems, including integration of sensors, control components, and software-driven automation. * Oversee prototype development, working closely with the manufacturing team for validation and process improvement. * Evaluate materials and processes to enhance product performance and durability in demanding applications. Quoting & Customer Solutions: * Serve as a technical expert for custom product quoting, collaborating with sales, manufacturing, and vendors to define costs and feasibility. * Work closely with customer service to translate customer needs into engineering solutions. * Provide on-site and remote technical support, assisting in troubleshooting pre-sale and post-sale applications. Manufacturing & Continuous Improvement: * Support manufacturing by addressing shop floor inquiries, resolving design and production issues efficiently. * Conduct root cause failure analysis and recommend corrective actions for product improvements. * Identify opportunities for process automation and optimization in design workflows. Training & Documentation: * Develop technical documentation, training materials, and product guides for internal and external use. * Mentor and provide guidance to junior engineers and drafters on best practices in design and manufacturing. Required Qualifications: * Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field. * 5+ years of experience in mechanical design, product development, or manufacturing engineering. * Proficiency in CAD software (Creo and AutoCAD preferred). * Expertise in mechanical stress analysis, GD&T, and FEA. * Strong background in hydraulics, mechanical systems, and manufacturing processes. * Ability to manage multiple projects independently and cross-functionally. * Excellent problem-solving, communication, and leadership skills. Preferred Qualifications: * Experience with hydraulic control systems, sensors, and automation. * Knowledge of BOM management, ERP systems, and costing software. * Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing principles and process improvements. Work Environment: * Office and manufacturing floor environment with occasional hands-on work. * Some lifting (up to 50 lbs) may be required for prototype assembly or testing. Why Join Us?
