(MTSI) is seeking a Cybersecurity Engineer SME to provide Systems Engineering and Technical Assistance (SETA) to the United States Space Force (USSF) Space Systems Command (SSC) in support of the development and sustainment of the Space Digital Ecosystem and iNtegration (SpaceDEN). Responsibilities

As a Cybersecurity Engineer SME with MTSI, you will provide Systems Engineering and Technical Assistance (SETA) to the United States Space Force (USSF) Space Systems Command (SSC) in support of the development and sustainment of the Space Digital Ecosystem and iNtegration (SpaceDEN). The candidate will work in multi-level classified environments to include, Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) and Special Access Program (SAP) activities. A successful candidate should be a self-starter who possesses initiative, excellent communication skills, the ability to lead diverse teams and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, and a proven problem solver.

Your essential job functions will include but may not be limited to:

  • Coordinating with Program Managers (PMs) and Government leadership to determine prioritization of development and sustainment efforts as they relate to the Risk management Framework (RMF) and Joint Security Implementation Guide (JSIG)/SAP Overlay Implementation Guide (SOIG) controls.
  • Planning, implementing, managing, monitoring, and upgrading security measures for the protection of the organization's data, systems, networks, and cloud environments.
  • Ensuring that the organization's data and infrastructures are protected by designing in the appropriate security controls requirements and making sure they are implemented and operating as required.
  • Testing and identifying network, system, and cloud environment vulnerabilities.
  • Ensuring the SpaceDEN system is designed for security requirements for Information Systems (IS), Platform Information Technology (PIT), and Information Technology (IT) Services in accordance with the JSIG.
  • Guiding and verifying defense contractors' work against program requirements and goals, including participation in technical discussions, trade studies and working groups, and conducting research on industry best practices for potential implementation.
  • Provide guidance on developing, maintaining, and tracing cybersecurity requirements.
  • Enforcing the design and implementation of trusted relationships among external systems and architectures within and outside the authorization boundaries.
  • Assessing proposed changes to customer IS's, their operational environment, and mission needs for impacts to cybersecurity and continued compliance with cybersecurity requirements.
  • Providing inputs to program office development teams responsible for designing and developing organizational information systems and upgrading legacy systems.
  • Recommending industry best practices and recommendations for maintaining cybersecurity resilience when clear cybersecurity guidance is not available.
  • Providing technical feedback of cybersecurity needs of systems at varied stages of the systems life development cycle.
  • Identifying integration issues related to the implementation of new systems within the existing infrastructure and recommending mitigation and/or resolution options as appropriate.
  • Ensure cybersecurity measures are captured and maintained through operational execution and through the CCB process.
  • Effectively coordinate with a geographically dispersed team.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 14 years of technical experience in information technology, cybersecurity, systems engineering, and cloud solution.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in SAP or SCI IS's.
  • Able to demonstrate understanding of cybersecurity needs at varied stages of the systems development life cycle.
  • Firm understanding of the DoD 8500.1-M, DoDM 5205.07, Volume 1, JSIG, National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Special Publication 800-53, and Intelligence Community Directive (ICD) Number 503.
  • Proven ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams of analysts, developers, data scientists, operators, and subject-matter experts.
  • Experienced with briefing technical data to various audiences (e.g. peers, customer, and leadership).
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Experience Desired:

  • Experience working on DISA Security Technical Implementation Guide (STIG) implementation.
  • Experience working on-site and hybrid in a government client environment.
  • Cloud Security Implementation experience.
  • Experienced working/using Agile methodologies.
  • Understands Digital Engineering execution and strategy.
  • Familiarity and experience with NSA requirements for COMSEC.
  • Capable of applying system security engineering expertise to various client programs/processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to work well independently as well as follow detailed instructions for completing tasks.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive projects to closure, and to assimilate and correlate project information in a fast-paced environment.

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor degree in information technology or related technical field.
  • Master's degree or equivalent 8140 in information technology or related technical field, Desired.

Clearance Requirements:

  • Active Top Secret clearance, SCI eligible.
  • SAP eligibility, experience is HIGHLY desired. (Counterintelligence Polygraph may be required).
  • U.S. Citizenship is required for this position.

Location/Travel Requirements:

  • Place of work is El Segundo, CA area, remote work opportunity is limited.
  • May require travel up to 10% of time within the continental United States.

The pay range for this position in California is $130,000/year to $180,000/year; however, base pay offered may vary depending on established government contract wages, job- related knowledge, skills, and experience, and other factors. MTSI also offers a full range of medical, financial, and other benefits, dependent on the position offered. Base pay information is based on market location.
