Insurance Specialist Liaison (Patient Insurance Assistance Coordinator)

Position Type: This is a Full-Time, remote position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m.

Overview:

The Insurance Specialist Liaison / Patient Insurance Assistance Coordinator supports patients in accessing financial assistance for medical insurance grants. Serving as a liaison between patients and the American Kidney Fund (AKF), this role helps patients' complete applications, authorization forms, and grant requests using AKF's Grant Management System (GMS).

Essential Functions:



  • Ensure compliance with Innovative Renal Care (IRC) policies and American Kidney Fund (AKF) regulations.
  • Adhere to AKF's Provider Code of Conduct and HIPP Guideline requirements.
  • Track and maintain HIPP applications, authorization documents, and grant requests.
  • Assist patients with enrolling in and maintaining AKF's HIPP program.
  • Organize and maintain documentation for audit readiness.
  • Exercise sound judgment and sensitivity when assisting patients.
  • Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, in a professional and empathetic manner.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of patient and business-related information.
  • Perform other administrative tasks and projects as needed.



Required Education and Experience:



  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 0-2 years of experience in a related field preferred.
  • Previous experience in health insurance eligibility and enrollment rules and procedures.
  • Previous experience with the range of qualified health plan options and insurance affordability programs.
  • Understanding of the needs of underserved and vulnerable populations
  • Understanding of privacy and security standards.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
