Responsibilities

We are seeking a Staff Professional Engineer with a strong background in electrical and communications engineering to support the design, implementation, and optimization of infrastructure projects. This role will focus on power distribution, building electrical systems, controls design, electric vehicle (EV) charging station development, and telecommunications/broadband systems. The ideal candidate will have expertise in the National Electrical Code (NEC), low- and medium-voltage systems, and network infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:

Electrical Engineering & Infrastructure:

  • Design power distribution systems for commercial, industrial, and municipal facilities in compliance with NEC, NFPA, and IEEE standards.
  • Develop lighting, grounding, and surge protection systems for buildings and infrastructure projects.
  • Conduct load calculations, short-circuit analysis, arc flash studies, and power quality assessments.
  • Specify and design control systems for automation, building management, and energy efficiency.

Electric Vehicle Charging & Renewable Energy:

  • Design and implement EV charging station infrastructure, ensuring compliance with utility requirements, NEC Article 625, and safety regulations.
  • Assess grid integration and power distribution needs for charging networks.
  • Support renewable energy integration, such as solar PV and battery storage systems.

Telecommunications & Broadband Systems:

  • Design and coordinate fiber optic and structured cabling systems for commercial and municipal projects.
  • Develop plans for broadband and wireless communication infrastructure, including small cell and DAS networks.
  • Ensure compliance with FCC regulations and industry standards for telecom and broadband deployments.

Project Management & Compliance:

  • Prepare engineering drawings, specifications, and cost estimates for electrical and communication projects.
  • Conduct site assessments and feasibility studies for new infrastructure installations.
  • Collaborate with architects, contractors, utility companies, and government agencies to ensure seamless project execution.
  • Provide technical support during construction, commissioning, and troubleshooting phases.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and national electrical and telecommunications regulations.

Qualifications

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
  • 5+ years of experience in electrical engineering, infrastructure design, or telecommunications.
  • Strong knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC), IEEE, NFPA, and other industry standards.
  • Experience with AutoCAD, Revit, SKM Power Tools, or similar electrical design software.
  • Familiarity with EV charging infrastructure, power distribution, and smart grid technologies.
  • Knowledge of fiber optic design, structured cabling, and broadband network infrastructure.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) licenses in multiple states or ability to obtain is preferred.

Preferred Skills:

  • Knowledge of telecommunications and broadband outside plant design and construction.
  • Ability to understand requirements for working in public right-of-way and complying with related professional engineering certifications and expectations.
  • Experience with medium-voltage (MV) power systems and electrical utility coordination.
  • Knowledge of SCADA, PLC programming, and industrial automation controls.
  • Understanding of energy efficiency, sustainability, and smart building technologies.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is a plus.
