An opportunity to assist in the fleet support engineering for the OHIO and VANGUARD Class Strategic Weapons System (SWS) programs. As part of the fleet support engineering team, engineers have the opportunity to participate in a fast paced and technically challenging program. Fleet support engineering tasking varies from development and qualification of new components through support of any issues with the tactical SWS system experienced in the US/ UK Navy Fleet. A successful candidate will have the opportunity to understand each interface and component as well as associated system requirements while delivering new products and designs to the Navy. This tasking will expand to include COLUMBIA and DREADNAUGHT class as these platforms are delivered to the fleet. Responsibilities include: resolution of technical problems on electrical, fluid and mechanical systems, components and structures associated with Strategic Weapons Support Systems (SWSS). Supporting development of shipboard modifications including engineering support for development of design, development of test programs and procedures supporting shipboard installation and deck plate support for installations. Support for SWSS development includes development of equipment and procedures supporting SWSS Training and Land Based Test Facilities. Specific technical areas include: compressible (gas) and incompressible (water, oil) fluid systems, HVAC systems, operating mechanisms. Additional responsibilities include support for resolution of SWSS / AWSS Trouble Failure Reports (TFRs), Trouble Casualty Reports (TCRs), Liaison Action Requests (LARs), TDENTs etc. Occasional travel may be required to support work assignments may include support of programs at Bangor Washington, Kings Bay Georgia, United Kingdom, SWS Ashore testing at Cape Canaveral FL, but primarily will support OHIO/VANGUARD SWSS fleet support efforts in New London. Qualifications Required:
Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Systems engineering or related technical degree
