About the Job

Job Summary:
The Assistant Director of Annual Giving for Gopher Athletics will be responsible for assisting in fundraising efforts for the annual giving program and will coordinate and execute annual giving strategies that increase donor participation and fundraising resources for Gopher Athletics. The position will also assist in managing the Gopher Loyalty Program, donor communication and benefit fulfillment along with coordinating Golden Gopher Fund communications and fundraising content through the Director of Annual Giving.

Additional duties include analyzing and reporting on campaign results, developing content calendars, assisting with scholarship seating renewals and donor parking and management of select sport specific fundraising efforts. This role will also assist in securing annual gifts in support of the department's top priorities and requires collaboration with various teams, including the Golden Gopher Fund, the University of Minnesota Foundation, Gopher Ticket Office, and other partners across the University.

The Assistant Director will report to the Director of Development and Annual Giving Strategy and work under the guidance of the Director of Annual Giving. The position will play an essential role in driving private support for Gopher Athletics and will be pivotal in increasing revenue to ensure the department's success in the Big Ten Conference.

Some limited regional travel may be required as well as working evenings and weekends as necessary in the performance of assigned duties. The position is an hourly Civil Service classified position. Compensation is dependent on experience with the salary range being $48,500-$53,000 annually. The majority of the work is in-person with some hybrid/remote flexibility.

Annual Giving & Donor Benefits (65%)
* Assist in maximizing revenues from all annual fundraising initiatives with the goal of retaining and growing Golden Gopher Fund members through seat-related, programmatic support and athletic scholarship gifts.
* Assist in executing the annual fund operating plan and performance goals and report to the Director of Development and Annual Giving Strategy progress towards goals, challenges and successes.
* Assist in the coordination, organization and facilitation of annual fund campaigns with concentration on development of strategies for crowdfunding, student calling programs, direct mail solicitations, team support solicitations and other new initiatives in collaboration with UMF Central Annual Giving.
* Assist in operating the Golden Gopher Fund member benefits programs and fulfillment through the Gopher Loyalty Program and other donor engagement programming.

Donor Engagement (25%)
* Manage and develop a portfolio of annual gift donors and prospects ($100-$5,000).
* Annually generate $100,000 in new revenue for Gopher Athletics through external outreach and individual fundraising efforts.
* Collaborates with University of Minnesota Foundation (UMF) professionals and utilizes UMF centralized resources to achieve and exceed established standards and metrics for the position.
* Effectively utilizes UMF's Donor Management System (DMS) to review relevant information on assigned and prospective donors and completes timely contact reports.

Other Duties (10%)
* Work with assigned volunteer groups/booster clubs on sport-specific fundraising priorities and efforts. Coordinate communication and outreach efforts to ensure quality control on donor engagement.
* Assist with the coordination and implementation of the Golden Gopher Fund's social media outreach plan.
* Assist with managing Golden Gopher Fund phone lines and email inbox.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:
* Completed BA/BS degree or a combination of related education and work experience that is equal to at least 4 years.

Preferred Qualifications:
* Professional experience in areas related to development/fundraising, stewardship or annual giving; OR related experience in marketing, sales, public relations or financial advisement; OR experience in a related field with emphasis on relationship cultivation and solicitation of individuals/businesses.
* Prior professional experience at an NCAA member institution.
* College athletics fundraising experience.
* Experience in a large, complex university setting is desired.
* Thorough knowledge of NCAA and Big Ten rules and regulations.

* Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
* Excellent organizational skills, to include the ability to prioritize projects and meet deadlines.
* Demonstrated success in working in a team setting.
* Ability to interact effectively with coaches, administrators, student-athletes, perspective donors, external constituencies, and vendors.
* Proficient computer skills including word processing, spreadsheets, Paciolan or similar ticketing platforms and other software necessary to the development operation.
* Demonstrated experience and commitment to fostering a workplace where all employees feel valued and respected.

Pay and Benefits

Pay Range: $23.31 - $25.48 hourly; depending on education/qualifications/experience

Time Appointment: 75%-100% Appointment
