Job Summary

The Integrative Health Nurse Practitioner (NP) is a highly skilled clinical professional specializing in General Medicine, and Integrative Health. Leveraging extensive education, clinical knowledge, and experience, the Integrative Health NP assesses, plans, and evaluates patient care. This role embodies that of an expert practitioner, collaborator, consultant, educator, clinician, and change agent.

Working under the general direction of the Practice Manager, the Medical Director of the Osher Center for Integrative Health, and the Director of Adult Medical Specialties, the primary responsibility of the Integrative Health NP is to manage and coordinate patient care at the Osher Center for Integrative Health. This includes emphasizing collaborative management, education, and continuity of outpatient integrative care within the General & Integrative Medicine service lines.

The NP must efficiently prioritize multiple urgent issues while caring for patients with complex diseases and general medical and geriatric conditions. The NP will collaborate closely with other providers to develop, evaluate, and refine workflows and processes for panel management programs related to Integrative Health and long-term continuity of care in an ambulatory setting.

The NP plays a critical role in delivering high-quality clinical care and will work with all support staff to ensure the highest level of continuity of care for patients in an outpatient setting.

The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.

Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.

The salary range for this position is $100.48 - $130.31 (Hourly Rate).

The UCSF Osher Center for Integrative Health, located on the Mount Zion Campus, is committed to providing patients with the highest-quality care by thoughtfully combining proven therapies from both conventional and complementary medicine. Drawing on safe, effective techniques from around the world, our specialists focus not just on relieving symptoms but on maximizing whole person healing and empowering patients.

Required Qualifications


  • Three (3) years NP experience in GI clinical setting, and one (1) year of formal advanced training in integrative medicine (fellowship in integrative medicine, board certifications in integrative medicine, or equivalent) and/or a minimum of 5 years of direct patient care in integrative medicine and/or formal/reputable training in integrative health.

  • Three (3) years of NP experience in a GI clinical setting and completion of an SIBO (small intestinal bacterial overgrowth) Masterclass or other Osher Center-approved integrative medicine courses within the first year of hire. Experience treating patients with SIBO, IBS, and chronic fatigue, ordering and interpreting diagnostic testing (breath, stool, and other functional medicine tests).

Preferred Qualifications


  • Demonstrated experience with interprofessional teamwork and collaboration.
  • Leadership in the clinical practice of integrative medicine.

License/Certification


  • California driver's license (CDL) if required for the position.
  • Current national certification from an accepted certifying agency and provide by the first day of work.
    • Accepted Certifications for this position: FNP-C, ANP-C, ANP-BC, FNP-BC, AGPCNP-BC, AGNP-C, GNP-BC. Link to UCSF NP Certification Table for reference
  • Current and active RN, NP, and Furnishing license in California.
  • Complete a BRN recognized graduate master's degree program as a nurse practitioner.
  • Obtain an active and/or transferable DEA license with schedules 2-5 to a California address and provide evidence by the 90th day of clinical practice. (It is the responsibility of the employee to transfer their DEA license to their new place of employment if from out of state, via the online DEA portal and provide evidence of transfer).
  • Submit enrollment with CMS Medicare and Medicaid through credentialing by the first clinical day. CCS enrollment as appropriate for pediatric environments.
  • Current AHA BLS as a minimum requirement.
  • State regulation requires that you have a supervising physician to practice.
  • Incumbents with less than 6 months of NP experience will be hired as a Nurse Practitioner 1.


UCSF Medical Center and Campus requires certain healthcare providers to be credentialed. In most cases this is done through its Office of Medical Affairs & Governance (OMAG) prior to the first working day. Credentialing and approval of the Standardized Procedures takes between 60-90 days but can vary.
