The PV Project Engineering Intern role will focus on designing and analyzing Utility-Scale PV Projects that RWECE is developing. Its function is within the PV team and collaborates with other stakeholders, such as Civil Engineering, Pre-Construction Engineering, Development, etc., to carry out the layout development and energy assessment for the PV projects.

The role will support the development projects in delivering accurate layouts and production estimates by factoring in all the engineering inputs and performing due diligence on work performed by external consultants.

As RWECE grows its portfolio of PV Projects, the position supports the Development projects as they move into the Construction phase. It collaborates with both engineering and non-engineering stakeholders to meet the timelines of projects and successfully get them approved for Construction with accurate engineering analysis.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Create a dedicated PV layout and provide support on the constructability and design of layouts
  • Run Energy Estimates using PVsyst
  • Support internal project and optimization teams on miscellaneous technical and administrative activities
  • Review PPA, IA, and RFPs for internal portfolio projects while supporting the interconnection team
  • Work with the finance teams to support project sensitivity analysis and respond to IE questions
  • Support in software development for enhancements to cloud-based software hub for internal tools
  • Test new software developed with software and PV engineer's support

Job Requirements and Experiences:

  • Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Civil, Mechanical, or related engineering field
  • Strong time management and prioritization skills to manage multiple projects and engineering team initiatives
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to interface with internal and external stakeholders to meet project deadlines
  • Technical knowledge of PV and electrical systems a plus
  • Understanding of project economics to design cost-efficient systems a plus

This is a full-time 12-week summer internship starting the first week of June in our Austin, TX, or Chicago, IL, office.

Pay range:The base hourly range for this position in Illinois for undergraduates is $25.00-$35.00 an hour, and for graduates is $30.00--$40.00.The listed salary range represents our good faith estimate for this position and represents the range for new hire salaries across all U.S locations.
