What you'll do
At Viasat, an integrated approach to architectural design and implementation brings diverse views and out-of-the-box thinking to help bring solutions to our customers. We're searching for a highly experienced network and security Solutions Architect to join us in assisting our customers in developing and maintaining secure network solutions based on innovation. We're seeking someone who has the soul and passion of an artist combined with an array of strong technical skills. This person must be a highly skilled problem-solver who has the business knowledge and technological expertise to implement strategies, evaluate processes, and build upon an infrastructure that supports the ever-changing needs of customers.
The day-to-day
- Serve as the sales team's Space related technical subject-matter expert and technical escalation resource
- Identify and assist in developing enhancement opportunities across our customer's space communications and control networks through innovation
- Be our customer's go to resource for space security architectures and their integration into an overall command and control and communications architectures.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with our customer's technical teams
- Develop a deep understanding of our customers problem sets, current solutions, and planned upgrades
- Document and maintain a database of customer use cases, requirements, and solutions
- Work with customers to understand their current and future requirements
- Provide feedback to internal teams on the customer's needs and requirements in order to facilitate best-in-class products that exceed our customer's expectations
Responsibilities
- Assist our customers in the architecture, implementation, and maintenance of classified/secure solutions across the space and supporting ground segments
- Communicate with internal team to identify needs, monitor performance, and diagnose and resolve issues
- Provide technical oversight and encryption subject matter expertise for various customer activities, including upgrades, implementations, and migrations, offering technical direction and user support as needed
- Create, update, and maintain documentation of customer use cases and associated implementation designs
- Attend regular meetings with clients, contractors, and specialists, and make site visits as need to resolve issues and make recommendations on future upgrades.
- Solve problems for clients by understanding and exceeding their expectations
- Illustrate the value of our secure products and services to create growth opportunities; compile and analyze data to identify trends
- Participate in internal brainstorming, staff meetings, and client meetings; research and assist with space systems development for existing clients and new prospects
- Follow up with clients regularly to ensure needs are being met and to identify opportunities
- Identify, analyze, and evaluate mature and transition technologies to satisfy emerging requirements
What you'll need
- 10+ years' experience in government space systems or government customer support of their space networking and/or cybersecurity solutions
- Proven experience with space systems infrastructure and hardware
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment
- Proven ability using MS Office Suite (including Powerpoint and Visio) and SalesForce
- Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in cybersecurity, system engineering, network architecture, design, or related field
- US Government position. US Citizenship required
- Active DoD Top Secret Clearance
- Ability to travel up to 50% both domestically and internationally
What will help you on the job
- Active TS/SCI Clearance
- Related Professional certifications (ex: CCIE, CCNP, JNCIE-ENT, CompTIA Network+, WCNA, CISSP)
- Master's degree or equivalent experience
Salary range
$180,000.00 - $256,000.00 / annually.
For specific work locations within San Jose, the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, the base pay range for this role is $223,000.00- $302,000.00/ annually

Base pay may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
