Job Description

JOB SUMMARY:

Under the direction of an assigned supervisor, provide support to the Emergency Management Division to ensure timely and efficient completion of emergency management tasks.

**This part-time position is non-benefited and has a maximum duration of six months, with a work schedule of 20-40 hours per week

SUPERVISION:

Reports To: Emergency Management Director or Emergency Management Coordinator, as assigned

Supervises: None

JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Contribute to public outreach and education programs.
  • Perform tasks related to training and exercise activities.
  • Provide clerical support, including proofreading, composing, filing, and finalizing various documents and presentations.
  • Supplement emergency response and recovery efforts during disaster incidents.
  • Ensure effective, professional, and respectful interactions with customers and staff.
  • Maintain positive and open communication with staff and management.
  • Demonstrate appropriate judgment when solving problems and making decisions.
  • Understand and follow direction given.
  • Maintain regular, reliable, and punctual attendance; work flexible evening and/or weekend hours as required.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND LICENSE REQUIREMENTS:

  • At least 18 years of age.
  • Certificates of completion for FEMA Independent Study ICS courses IS-100, IS-200, IS-700, IS-800.
  • Successful passing of a required background check.
  • Successful passing of a national fingerprint-based records check. [DN3]
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Successful passing of a required driving record check.

  • Modern office practices, procedures and equipment.


WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
The following represent the physical demands that must be met to successfully perform the essential functions of this job:

  • Majority of work is performed in a typical office environment.
  • Constantly operate a computer and other office equipment.
  • Frequent communication with City employees and customers.
  • Occasional lifting of up to 35 pounds.
