JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:???????

  1. Provide positive and effective services for children with mental health disorders.
  2. Observe patient behaviors, record observations, and lead them in therapeutic and recreational activities.
  3. Consult with doctors and other mental health professionals as part of the treatment team.
  4. Assist in implementing treatment plan interventions.
  5. Defuse and report crises and intervene where appropriate using non-invasive procedures.
  6. Maintain a safe and therapeutic environment by assisting with groups.
  7. Communicate significant patient events.
  8. Orient patient and family to the program.
  9. Maintain and monitor activities of daily living (ADL) when appropriate.
  10. Escort patients to various locations.
  11. Ensure safe and therapeutic care through routine functions.
  12. Perform vital sings on patients.
  13. Utilize exceptional observation and communication skills.


QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. High school diploma/GED or associate degree in Mental Health Technology or a related field.
  2. Advanced training that includes the completion of an accredited or approved program in Nursing Assistant is beneficial.
  3. Completion of coursework in gropu psychiatric nursing is beneficial.
  4. Previous experience as a home health aide or nursing aide is beneficial.
  5. American Heart Association or Healthcare Provider CPR certification or American Red Cross Professional Rescue is required within thirty days of hire.
  6. Formal training in the management of aggressive patients is required within 60 days of hire.
  7. Ability to relate well to people from diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds.
  8. Familiarity with DHS 40 is preferred.
  9. Bilingual (Spanish/English) preferred.
