Job Summary

Full-time Inpatient General Orthopaedic Physician Assistant position. This role will be split between our Parnassus and Mount Zion campuses, with scheduled shifts from Monday to Friday during the day. At Parnassus, the focus will be on Orthopaedic Spine, while at Mount Zion, services will include Hand and Upper Extremity, Foot and Ankle, Sports Medicine, and potentially Trauma. This is a crucial position, supporting our team throughout the entire orthopaedic care continuum.

The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.

Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.

The salary range for this position is $87.66 - $108.99 (Hourly Rate).

Required Qualifications


  • Excellent verbal and written communication, professional, computer and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with a diverse professional and patient population
  • Ability to satisfactorily perform job duties as defined in the job duties/functions
  • Prior experience in medical office environment
  • Must be able to document competent performance of the skills required to perform in the role described.
  • Flexibility to orient and work at all UCSF Medical Center locations.

Preferred Qualifications


  • Experience and training in orthopaedics

License/Certification


  • Active and current California Physician Assistant License (PA).
  • California driver's license (CDL) if required for position.
  • Current national board certification by first day of work and maintain.
  • Active and transferable DEA license to California and have evidence of transfer by 90th day of clinical practice. (It is the responsibility of the employee to transfer their DEA license to their new place of employment if from out of state, via online DEA portal and provide evidence of transfer).
  • Complete an AAPA recognized graduate master's degree program as a Physician Assistant.
  • Submit enrollment with CMS Medicare and Medicaid through the credentialing process by first clinical day.
  • Current AHA BLS.
  • Current AHA ACLS.


UCSF Medical Center and Campus requires certain healthcare providers to be credentialed. In most cases this is done through its Office of Medical Affairs & Governance (OMAG) prior to the first working day. Credentialing and approval of the Standardized Procedures takes between 60-90 days but can vary.
