The American Red Cross is currently seeking a Summer Intern within the Training Services Department to support the Emergency Services Acquisition Team. This is a remote position with limited travel.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW (Job Overview):
The Training Services Summer Internship Program offers undergraduate and graduate students an opportunity to gain work experience in a non-profit organization. During the 10-week program, students receive training and develop their skills and knowledge under the guidance of experienced professionals. The 2025 Summer Internship program will run from May 28, 2025, through August 1, 2025.

American Red Cross Training Services is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Business Strategy Intern to join our Emergency Services Acquisition Team. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in business strategy and training consulting within a leading humanitarian organization. The intern will support various strategic initiatives aimed at optimizing our training services and enhancing our outreach efforts, specifically targeting large emergency services training agencies.

WHERE YOUR CAREER IS A FORCE FOR GOOD (Key Responsibilities):

Primary Project:

The intern's primary project will involve identifying a methodology to continuously identify and expand Hospital/EMS networks in various pre-determined geographies, and create a deliverable resource for the storage and maintenance of this market intelligence. This includes:
* Evaluating Current Systems: Understanding what is currently working, and where.
* Prospecting: Suggest hot, warm, and cold areas where Healthcare Sales should increase or vary prospecting efforts.
* Gap Analysis: Determining where the gaps are.

Prospecting and Research
* Information Gathering: Collect and analyze information on existing accounts, including department sizes, decision-makers, phone numbers, training leadership, and current training models.
* Data Analysis: Analyze revenue data and other key performance metrics to make data-driven business strategy recommendations. Categorize findings accordingly.
* Trend Identification: Use quantitative analysis to identify trends, opportunities, and areas for improvement in Emergency Services outreach efforts.

Departmental Mapping
* Detailed Mapping: Create detailed "webs" of the inner workings of various departments within a city or county.
* Key Training Providers: Identify key training providers for Emergency Management, Fire, EMS, Private Ambulance Transport, and hospitals.
* Training Models: Determine the nationwide presence of self-directed training models and other relevant industry training initiatives.
* Relationship Mapping: Map out relationships and connections between different departments and agencies to understand their training needs and collaboration opportunities.

Standard Schedule: Monday- Friday Standard business hours.

The salary range for this position is $20.00 an hour.

This job will be posted for a minimum of five business days and extended if the applicant pool needs to be expanded.

WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED (Minimum Qualifications):
* Education: Currently pursuing a degree in Business Administration, Management, or a related field.
* Experience: Up to 1 year of related experience
Skills & Abilities:
o Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
o Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
o Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
o Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
Strong analytical and research skills.
* Travel: Ability to travel to attend in person meetings 10-20%.Must have valid driver's license.

* Combination of candidate's education and general experience satisfies requirements so long as the total years equate to description's minimum education and general experience years combined (Management experience cannot be substituted).

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. The work environment will consist of moderate noise (i.e. business office with computers, phones and printers, light traffic). The employee must have the ability to work in a small cubicle and have the ability to sit at a computer terminal for an extended period of time.
