Overview

Beyond New Horizons, LLC (BNH) has an exciting opportunity for an Instrument Tech Specialist, supporting TOS II, at Arnold AFB in Tullahoma, TN. The Instrument Technician will be working as a member of an integrated team responsible for operating and maintaining or supporting the United States Air Force Test Operations and Sustainment efforts.

Open to internal, current BNH employees only. External candidates will not be considered. The selected candidate for this requisition must be available to work any shift and shift determination will be made based on the priority of work at the time the selected candidate is cleared to report to work.

Job Summary

The successful candidate will under general supervision, primarily in an instrument organization. Work must generally be accomplished with minimal or no outside technical support or procedures and requires a high level of independent problem analysis. This job requires that diagnostic methods, including software as needed, be devised during troubleshooting and verification for corrective maintenance.

Supplementary Functions: Participation in functional specific safety training.

Job Duties:

    Performs corrective maintenance on complex electronic instrumentation systems and equipment such as computers and associated peripherals, data acquisition and control systems, display and analysis systems, high speed communication networks, and analog and digital data recording systems
  • Work from general problem descriptions, coordinate with those reporting problems, assessing the normal functional behavior of equipment, verifying that trouble exists, locating the source of problems, taking reliable and credible corrective action, verifying and reporting that normal functional behavior has been restored, and documenting with sketches, block or logic diagrams, or schematics any changes and modifications required
  • Adjusts and calibrates instruments as directed and adapts them to new or extended uses
  • Uses a wide variety of instruments, tools, and equipment necessary to perform assigned duties
  • Works primarily in a laboratory or field equipment environment
  • It is a condition of employment to wear PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) in accordance with supervisory direction and company policy.
  • Performs other related duties as required

Basic Qualifications:

  • Educational Equivalent: Must possess High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Specific Knowledge or Experience: Six (6) years of progressive experience in maintenance and repair of complex electronic equipment such as computer systems, display and analysis systems, or data acquisition and control systems or a minimum of four (4) years' experience in such work plus two (2) years of technical schooling in related electronics
  • Ability to analyze and understand complex instrument equipment at the system sub-assembly and component level as well as specialized diagnostic equipment required for its maintenance repair
  • Ability to analyze and consider the impact of the methods and thoroughness of trouble-shooting techniques on cost and effectiveness of accomplishing maintenance actions
  • Ability to recognize when additional technical support is required
  • Licenses/Certifications: Valid State Driver's License
  • Communication Skills: Must be able to read, write, and speak English well enough to understand, give and take directions
  • Must put forward a professional behavior that enhances productivity and promotes teamwork and cooperation
  • Current United States Citizenship required
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance and the AEDC local area network.
