Summary of Role:

The Senior Accounts Payable Specialist oversees the department's daily operations. This role involves managing workflow processes, ensuring payment accuracy and timeliness, and ensuring the department meets all financial deadlines while providing excellent service to internal and external stakeholders.

Essential Job Functions/Responsibilities:
  • Assists in overseeing the daily operations of the accounts payable department, including managing workflows and ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of payments

  • Process all approved credit union invoices and expense requests through the COUPA system with integration into the accounting system

  • Manage all invoices daily in the various queues:

    • COUPA inbox

    • COUPA TO DO inbox

    • AP mailbox, work with AP team members and send for appropriate approvals

  • Accurately code invoices, check requests, and other similar items with correct general ledger codes, conforming to standard procedures in entering data into the accounting system

  • Perform corporate accounts payable check-runs and ACH runs as needed

  • Responsible for the security of physical checks

  • Maintains and verifies an accurate record of all credit union vendors' information on the accounting system

  • Analyze all accounts payable balance and resolve all issues regarding unpaid invoices

  • Monitor and balance the annual 1099 reporting

  • Prepare and review month-end tasks

  • Assist management in delegating workloads and cross-training within the department for department coverage and promotion of team environment

  • Responsible for addressing inquiries and resolving problems within assigned areas and other areas if necessary

  • Assist with additional responsibilities to support the department, including general accounting projects, providing backup to the Accounting Manager, and other duties as assigned.

Minimum Job Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree in accounting; Bachelor's degree preferred

  • 2 - 4 years of related credit union or banking experience

  • 1 - 2 years prior general ledger and AP experience, or a combination of education and experience

  • Knowledge of accounting principles and procedures

  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills

  • Excellent analytical and communication skills

  • Proficient with accounting software and Microsoft Office

  • Able to work independently and meet tight deadlines

Starting Compensation: $60,329-$73,903 annually, plus a competitive benefits package.
