Job Title: System Admin III

SUMMARY: A full range of information technology (IT) support services is necessary to satisfy enterprise missions, goals and objectives in the areas of IT Services, Enterprise Design/Integration/Consolidation, IT Education/Training, IT Program/Project Management, Systems Operations and Maintenance, Network Support, and embedded Information Systems Security, Cyber Security and Information Assurance to the Program Executive Office Aviation (PEO AVN) Information Technology Support Services.
DUTIES: Responsible for activities related to system administration. Assigns personnel to various projects, directs their activities, and evaluates their work. Ensures long-term requirements of systems operations and administration are included in the overall information systems planning of the organization. Responsible for the installation, maintenance, configuration, and integrity of computer software. Implements operating system enhancements that will improve the reliability and performance of the systems.
Provide state-of-the-art IT system administration solutions and support for hardware and software platforms to include GOTS and COTS applications/solutions that reside on them. The GOTS/COTS hardware/software supported include: application/solution servers, web servers, print servers, mid-tier servers, virtual file servers, Cloud servers, reporting tools, and all tasks associated with their backup/recovery, performance, storage, and operations. Provide administration for local and remote systems for various operating environments (development, test, pre-production, training, and production). Support the IT life cycle management process by providing expertise in architecture management, design, and performance tuning. Provide engineering and integration support for integrating IT hardware, software and business processes. Perform identification, planning, design, modeling, simulation and testing of new and emerging technology in support of a rapid prototype or proof of concept, as it would apply to or integrate with, the technical, functionality, and security of organizational systems environments. Provide technical analysis in the transition and sustainment of services moving to the cloud computing environment in alignment with the Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) service delivery model. Cloud computing services shall be provided through approved Army Cloud Service Providers (CSPs) that are Federal Risk and Authorization Management Program (FedRAMP) certified and operate in accordance with the Cloud Computing Security Requirements Guide, at the government designated information Impact Level(s). Support all Cloud Computing Deployment Models as indicated in the NIST Special Publication 800-145. Information as Service (IaaS) capabilities include provisioning computing capabilities such as server time, network storage, and other fundamental computing resources where the government is able to deploy and run arbitrary software, which can include operating systems and applications.

Agile Defense HQ office in Reston, VA. General office environment. Work is generally sedentary in nature but may require standing and walking for up to 20% of the time. The working environment is generally favorable. Lighting and temperature are adequate, and there are not hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc. Work is generally performed within an office environment, with standard office equipment available.
