Description

This is a casual/per diem, non-benefited position with varied shifts, including weekends, at Scripps Mercy Hospital San Diego. Shifts will generally be 10 hours, but may be assigned to work select 8 hour shifts. Training can be up to full time hours for the first 1-3 weeks. Once training is complete, schedule will be a minimum of 4 shifts per month, with at least two of those shifts being weekends.

The Clinical Pharmacist II will work at Scripps Mercy Hospital San Diego, serving central and downtown San Diego. Responsibilities include:



  • Primarily operation focused centrally based; participates in direct patient care as clinical competencies are approved and on approved shifts.
  • Documents the care provided to patients.
  • Supervises the drug distribution operation: responsible for assuring safe and effective alternatives as appropriate.
  • Contributes to the accomplishment of initiatives to improve the cost-effectiveness of drug therapy.
  • Routinely communicates with physicians, nurses, and patients regarding drug therapy.
  • Demonstrates ability to provide age-specific patient care as established for area and job title.
  • Demonstrates ability to perform competencies and perform activities as outlined in the Pharmacist Authorities policy.
  • Provides pharmaceutical care according to standards established by Scripps Health Pharmacy, to assigned group of patients.
  • Reviews and evaluates individual drug orders for appropriateness, safety, and cost.
  • Precepts students and residents as assigned.

Qualifications

Required Education/Experience/Specialized Skills:



  • BS Pharmacy or Pharm.D. Degree



Required Certification/Registration:



  • California Pharmacist License
  • AHA BLS
  • ACLS certification required prior to being trained to respond to codes, can be obtained within 6 months of hire



Preferred Education/Experience/Specialized Skills/Certification:



  • PGY1 residency or 3 years' experience in relevant practice area.
