GENERAL SUMMARY:

Within his/her assigned scope, the Manager of Transformation Consulting (Manager) performs project work of a generally complex nature, and is responsible for planning, monitoring, guiding/directing the execution of transformative initiatives aligned with strategic organizational goals. Key responsibilities include overseeing daily activities of Transformation Consulting and other Henry Ford team members, student interns, and outside consultants working on projects under the manager's purview, training and mentoring others, leading activities that provide more efficient and streamlined workflow in the healthcare system environment and preparing reports and proposing recommendations to internal (and external) customers. The manager helps prioritize, select and charter high-impact projects, maintains the integrity of performance metrics, improvements and tollgates, and develops, maintains and revises performance improvement training materials. The Manager teaches transformation methods (e.g. lean and other process improvement methodologies, design thinking), tools, and applications in all functions and levels of the company and is a resource for utilizing statistical process control within processes, as appropriate. The Manager coordinates work with other strategic support services areas including planning, analytics and IT, quality, finance, facilities, marketing, and clinical and non-clinical operational teams across the systems as related to project under their purview. As a leader on the Transformation Consulting (TC) team, the Manager manages a sub-team of TC team members, mentors and coaches team members, and actively leads employee engagement and supports team member professional development. The Manager also leads recruiting activities to identify, recruit, and retain top talent. The Manager communicates regularly and often works one-on-one with senior leaders on a wide variety of topics and/or projects. Critical thinking, problem solving, analytical approach, relationship building, flexibility, innovation, and creativity are necessary characteristics.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:



  • Bachelor's Degree required. A degree in industrial or related engineering, nursing or other healthcare related field, business administration, healthcare administration (with quality or operations improvement emphasis), organizational development, or similar field preferred.
  • Master's degree in one of above fields preferred.
  • Five (5) years of relevant experience, with specific emphasis in: business transformation, lean transformation, continuous improvement, customer service, systems analysis, working with outside consultants, group leadership and facilitation, interpersonal communication, team building, OR Master's degree in same fields plus three (3) years of relevant experience.
  • Strongly prefer candidates with a healthcare background.
  • Formal team management experience preferred.
  • Knowledge and understanding of and demonstrated experience applying continuous quality/service level improvement concepts.
  • In-depth understanding of human relations, group dynamics, change theory, and improvement methodologies.
  • Familiarity with key issues and trends in healthcare, and the ability to relate their impact to the organization.
  • Experience with Physician Practice (Medical Staff operations) transformation, Medicare, Medicaid, and value-based care models is a bonus.
  • Ability to explain complex problems and analyses and visualize the results in presentation or other formats for the audience to understand.
