Essential Job Duties |
The
Department of Management, Innovation, and Entrepreneurship (MIE) at
NC State University's Poole College of Management invites applications for a
Professor of Practice position in
People Management (Leadership, Organizational Behavior, Strategic Human Resource Management). This is a full-time, non-tenure-track position with an anticipated start date of
August 2025. This position follows a
9-month appointment schedule.
Role & Responsibilities
The Professor of Practice will:
- Teach three class sections (9 credit hours) per semester, covering both undergraduate and master's-level courses in face-to-face and online formats.
- Foster relationships with industry partners to create hands-on learning experiences for students through practicum projects, student organizations, and extracurricular activities.
- Engage with external companies and support experiential learning initiatives.
- Participate in departmental and college service activities, contributing to student development and program growth.

Other Responsibilities |
This position is a .75-1.0 position and involves teaching primarily undergraduate students, although graduate
MBA teaching over time is expected. Teach 3 - 4 courses/semester plus significant involvement with
SHRM student organization. Significant involvement in embedding students in local, regional and national HR communities |
Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience |
- Requires a doctor's degree in Management or a related field, an equivalent degree, or equivalent professional experience.
- Alternative credentials may be considered for candidates who do not possess a doctorate degree

Other Required Qualifications |
- Applicants must have extensive knowledge of human resource management areas such as compensation, human resource planning, recruitment/selection, training/development, performance management and employee relations.
- Successful candidate should have significant experience in human resource management positions in private or public organizations, showing increased management responsibility in human resource management areas over time.
- Demonstrated teaching interest and ability.
- Extensive corporate leadership and/or consulting experience.
- A strong commitment to mentoring and coaching students.
- Interest in contributing to research, case writing, and thought leadership.

Preferred Qualifications |
- Prior university teaching experience preferred, but not required.
- Experience in building relationships with HR professionals and student coaching.
