Job Summary
The Division of Risk Management and Safety seeks candidates for the position of Environmental Protection Technician to support the Ft. Moore Hazardous Waste Management Program. Duties include pickup, transport, and storage of hazardous and non-hazardous waste in compliance with all federal, state, and local regulatory requirements.

Essential Functions

  • Receive and properly manage multiple waste streams generated throughout the installation.
  • Pick up waste throughout the installation through the You-Call-We-Haul Program.
  • Manage the onsite inventory of containers used for waste management.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the 90-Day Facility.
  • Proactively seeks new ways to improve overall safety and environmental performance.
  • Participates in ongoing environmental and safety training.
  • May participate in the chemical and/or hazardous materials emergency response team.
  • Assists with spill cleanup, and reports spills to proper points of contact.
  • May perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications


Minimum Qualifications
Level I - High school diploma or equivalent
Level II - High school diploma or equivalent plus 1 year of experience in managing environmental compliance programs such as hazardous waste, clean water, clean air, or storage tank management.

Level III - High school diploma or equivalent plus 4 year of experience in managing environmental compliance programs such as hazardous waste, clean water, clean air, or storage tank management.

Level IV - High school diploma or equivalent plus 6 year of experience in managing environmental compliance programs such as hazardous waste, clean water, clean air, or storage tank management.
Substitution allowed for Experience:
Degrees accepted in lieu of experience for advanced levels, at a rate of 1 year relevant education per year of required experience. Example: Associate's degree = 2 years of experience
Minimum Skills, License, and Certifications


Minimum Skills and Abilities
  • Performs a limited variety of simple, repetitive tasks.
Minimum Technology Skills
  • Knowledge and/or skill to perform a limited variety of simple, repetitive tasks related to an engineering or scientific field.
Minimum License and Certifications
  • Must have a valid driver's license.
