What You Will Do:

Gannett Fleming TranSystems is seeking a ITS Engineer / Designer to join our Transportation Team in Long Island, NY. This role follows a hybrid work model, requiring regular attendance in the Long Island, NY office.

What you'll be challenged to do:

Our ITS team is looking for a highly motivated Intelligent Transportation Systems Designer / Engineer who wants to join an exciting team of transportation professionals in our Transportation Operations Group. This position will have the opportunity to work on ITS and traffic signals projects throughout Long Island, New York.

In this capacity, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following:

  • Perform engineering design services throughout the project life-cycle, from concept through construction.
  • Works with lead engineer and other disciplines to prepare appropriate designs, as dictated by the scope of work.
  • Performs engineering analysis related to design, implementation, and operations of ITS elements and sub-systems.
  • Analyzes moderate to complex design problems requiring the development of new or improved techniques or procedures.
  • Assess the impact of construction and utility work on the ITS infrastructure and develop necessary mitigation measures.
  • Develop engineering drawings, specifications, cost estimates, and prepare final bid packages, as required.
  • Communicates with clients on task oriented issues and on project issues under the direction of the project manager.
  • Use strong writing skills and engineering planning to develop guidance documents and reports such as systems engineering documents.
  • Interaction with clients to relay clear, concise and consistent project related updates.
  • Participate in projects by completing tasks within schedule and budget.
  • Participate in project meetings.
  • Performs project site visits and field work, as required.
  • Assist with testing and resolving technical issues during new installations or modifications of ITS field equipment.
Education | Experience: What you will bring to our firm:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or relavent degree
  • EIT
  • 6 -10 years' experience working in a relevant field
  • Experience with MicroStation
  • Expertise with MS Office
  • Ability to travel in Long Island and in the field, as required
  • Strong desire in developing a career in ITS
What we prefer you bring:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering Civil or Electrical preferred
  • Path to obtain P.E. licensure, PE preferred
  • Experience with management of project tasks preferred
  • Traffic signal and/or fiber optic communication system design experience is preferred
Compensation:

The salary range for this position is $100,000 - $150,000 per year. Salary is dependent upon experience and geographic location.
