SUMMARY
Supervise, direct, and develop personnel in the safe and effective utilization of the plant's manufacturing facilities. Produces those products to the company's and customer's specifications according to production schedules.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Perform the primary thinking encompassed by this job description.
- Comply with all Company policies and procedures.
- Perform and promote the use of 5-Why program for root cause problem solving.
- Administers the Westlake Safety Program on the production shift level; including, but not limited to, conducting safety training, shift meetings, inspections, reporting, incident investigation, and follow-up.
- Completes accurate and timely reports and paperwork including any documents generated during the shift including, but not limited to; Data pass, SAP Production Reports, SPC Charts, shift personnel's attendance, overtime, and disciplinary events.
- Recommends alterations and redesign of equipment through use of root cause analysis as they become either obsolete, or in need of alteration or redesign.
- Directs, supervises, and develops personnel to meet or exceed goals and objectives such as production output, scrap rates, material utilization, and regrind usage. Also recommends promotions, demotions and disciplinary action of subordinates.
- Directs, supervises, and develops the personnel within his responsibility with regard to the quality of the product to Westlake standards, to include testing and record keeping.
- Oversees the effective and timely changeover of production lines to meet customer requirements.
- Maintains self-appearance, morals, comments, gestures, befitting a representative of Westlake.
- Conducts actions on the job with professionalism.
- Attend Supervisor's meetings as required.
- Responsible for the total housekeeping of plant during the work shift and enforcing all housekeeping policies.
- Any other duties assigned by his immediate supervisor.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Direct supervisory responsibility for designated shift
QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
- Must be able to work a 12-hour 3rd Shift, 7pm-7am 2/2/3 rotation schedule (36/48 hours a week.)
- Experience with MS Office systems, specifically Excel required.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, conflict resolution, time management, and team building skills required.
- Working in a manufacturing environment required.
- SAP experience preferred.
- Workday, Kronos or other time keeping system experience required.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High School Diploma and at least five-year experience working in a production environment with a thorough understanding of PVC extrusion cause and effects preferred.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and walk. The employee frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to wet and/or humid/cold conditions and moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of electrical shock, and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
