Duties/Responsibilities

Visitor Experience Warmly welcome, greet, orient, and direct visitors at the welcome desk or in the galleries.
Be knowledgeable about and able to discuss the museum's physical layout and architectural features, including galleries, restrooms, Sculpture Garden, exits and elevator.
Facilitate spontaneous conversation about art.
Assist visitors with inquiries about artists and exhibitions through engaging discussions.
Promote museum memberships, the museum shop, events, programs, tours and special events.
Review the daily schedule of events and communicate relevant information to other staff and museum guests as needed.
Record visitor information and attendance in database system.
Be familiar with Friends of
GMOA (membership) benefits and promote Friend benefits to museum guests.
Be receptive to visitor feedback and perspectives.
Maintain a clean area around visitor welcome desks and galleries, including tidying lobby and gallery areas, refilling brochure racks, and notifying maintenance as needed.
Attend ongoing training and professional development opportunities.
Answer and direct phone calls and answer general questions about the museum, exhibitions and public offerings. |

Duties/Responsibilities |
Museum Protection
Observe visitors in the galleries and take proactive actions to prevent potential damage to artwork.
Politely remind visitors of security concerns (no touching artwork, no food or drinks, no large bags, etc.)
Direct visitors to place large bags and other inappropriate items in lockers or the coatroom.
Inspect art objects, labels, and lights/furnishings for signs of change or damage.
Report damage or changes in condition of objects to security supervisor.
Alert security staff as needed to ensure a safe environment for artwork and visitors.
Assist in disaster and emergency situations and with evacuation and crowd control.
Perform other duties as assigned. |
