Major Duties

Classification: Non-Exempt, Bargaining

The Network Operations Technician supports the installation and maintenance of all network systems. Responsible for the management and maintenance of all IP Centric Central Office equipment that encompasses all Data product offerings where applicable.

Performs job duties consistent within safety, legal, and regulatory requirements; company standards, culture and business practices. Acts with the highest level of business and personal ethical standards in all aspects of job performance.

Responsibilities

  • Installs and maintains all network systems, platforms, and circuitry.
  • Ensures all aspects of the network are performing optimally.
  • Loads, tests and evaluates software on network elements and platforms.
  • Takes initiative to improve the quality of delivery of network services and network maintenance.
  • Reads and interprets technical manuals and other documentation when installing new equipment and/or trouble shooting network problems.
  • Performs troubleshooting and repair of network problems.
  • Collaborates with colleagues in Field Operations, Engineering, Sales, Provisioning, Care and other company departments as required.
  • Participates in the standby rotation schedule.
  • Interprets data, determines how information interrelates, and resolves discrepancies within data.
  • Provides solutions to a variety of problems.
  • Requires a working knowledge of rules and interpretations within functional area.
  • Responsible for the maintenance and configuration of CCI network elements and platforms.
  • Actively participates in Network troubleshooting, planning, and performance evaluation.
  • Prepares for and completes activities including moving, changing, installing, configuring, repair and/or removal of data communications equipment by reviewing and following work orders and other documentation.
  • Repairs and provides preventative maintenance on all network elements and platforms.
  • Safely uses and maintains vehicle, tools, and test equipment.
  • Completes basic maintenance and exercise generators as directed.
  • Must be knowledgeable in and abide by all National Electrical Safety Codes and Company practices.
  • Performs additional tasks/responsibilities not listed herein, as required by the Company.
Qualifications

  • Networking and Electronics Proficiency
  • Valid State Driver's License and satisfactory driving record
  • Intermediate to advanced Computer Skills
  • Knowledge of procedures and practices of various levels within functional area.
  • Proficient with hand tools and power tools.

Required Education & Experience:

In order to accomplish the essential duties of this position, the incumbent must have an Associate's Degree (A. A.) or equivalent in work experience.

Salary

Pay range (commensurate with skills and experience): $21.23 - $29.54

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, ability to adjust focus, and frequent use of computer screens.

Travel may be required within serving area on a frequent basis. The employee is occasionally required to do heavy lifting and work in outdoor weather conditions.
