Your Tasks:

The position is primarily responsible for gathering and interpreting user/system requirements for the application development process across assigned product lines. Responsibilities include analyzing, designing, building, coding, testing, implementing and maintaining multiple system applications for internal and client projects as they relate to Miltenyi Products.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:



  • Design and code applications to functional and technical programming standards and create operational documentation for the applications.
  • Develop and implement testing plans.
  • Identify and assess complex problems and create solutions that require in-depth evaluation of variable factors which are implemented by the team.
  • Design and perform experiments to develop novel applications and investigate their performance and efficiency to meet new market needs.
  • Participate in project planning and updates; executes project plan; participates in defining project goals; develops timelines; comprehends resource requirements.
  • Develop custom processes, validating methods, and performing release testing of applications development projects.
  • Provide high level troubleshooting expertise for our Technical Support team and capture lessons learned and document internal knowledgebase of technologies.
  • Author and review development reports, method validation protocols and reports.
  • Author and review test methods and SOPs.
  • Training.
  • Follow SOPs and laboratory guidelines for daily laboratory operations and functions and develop continuous improvements.
  • Produce technical content and materials for internal and external users of custom processes.
  • Conduct experiments, accomplishes established milestones and summarizes data, interprets results and draws conclusions.
  • Recommend options for other project approaches or experiments.
  • Participate in routine maintenance and lab safety.
  • Work with customers to improve and evaluate product performance on-site and globally


Requirements:



  • Master's degree or higher in Cell Biology, Immunology, Bioengineering, Biological Chemistry, Biophysics, Molecular Biology, or in similar scientific field; Ph.D. Cell Biology, Immunology, Bioengineering, Biological Chemistry, Biophysics, Molecular Biology, or in similar scientific field with 4 years related experience in an Application Development position preferred; A minimum of 7 years' related experience in an Application Development position; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must have a solid background in biological sciences, immunology, gene therapy, and software programming.
  • Good understanding of regulatory requirements, including ICH, USP/EP, FDA/EMA as related to biologics and instrumentation.
  • Flow cytometry experience required.
  • Knowledge of US FDA regulations, as well as experience in clinical immunology, cellular therapy or blood banking/processing is a plus.
  • Experience with programming software and processes (Python, Java, C++). Strong project and/or people leadership experience.
  • Domestic travel up to 35%

Work Environment:

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. This job is performed in a temperature-controlled, handicap-accessible facility without exposure to extreme hot or cold temperatures. Generally, this job is performed in an office environment. This job also requires the person to be mobile to visit customer sites, vendor shows, and demonstrations. Due to the travel requirements, this position may be exposed to natural elements of nature. Used research/clinical equipment may be handled in this job and strict SOPs and PPE must be worn. All persons performing this job will receive appropriate training prior to engaging in work requiring PPE or SOP procedures.

The anticipated base salary range for San Diego, CA has been established at $145,400 - 196,700/year. The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialization, skills, abilities, and training. The above salary range represents the Company's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. In addition to your salary, the Company offers a comprehensive benefits package including health, vision, and dental insurance, plus a 401(k) plan. All benefits are subject to eligibility requirements. Certain positions are eligible for additional forms of compensation such as bonuses or commissions.
