Job Description
JOB SUMMARY
The Banquet Bartender is required to mix and serve beverages according to established company standards and local laws.
ACCOUNTABILITIES
The Banquet Bartender is responsible for fulfilling the beverage needs of banquet guests in a timely and polite manner. The Banquet Bartender is also accountable for liquor issued to him or her, and for receiving payment for drinks and submitting these payments along with appropriate paperwork..
QUALIFICATIONS AND STANDARDS
EDUCATION:
High school diploma and/or experience in a hotel or a related field preferred.
Previous bartending experience helpful.
TIPS certification will be required
TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT:
Banquet portable bar
Wine opener
Pour spouts
Shot glass
Shaker
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Long hours sometimes may be required.
Medium work - Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must be able to convey information and ideas clearly.
Must be able to evaluate and select among alternative courses of action quickly and accurately.
Must work well in stressful, high pressure situations.
Must maintain composure and objectivity under pressure.
Must be effective at listening, understanding, and clarifying the concerns raised by coworkers and guests.
Must be able to work with and understand financial information and data, and basic arithmetic functions.
OTHER ABILITIES, SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE
Knowledge of banquet protocol helpful.
Thorough knowledge of wine, liquor, and beer.
Familiarity with cocktail ingredients.
Qualifications
DUTIES AND FUNCTIONS
ESSENTIAL:
Approach all encounters with guests and employees in a friendly, service oriented manner.
Maintain regular attendance in compliance with Fairmont Standards, as required by scheduling which will vary according to the needs of the hotel.
Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming, which include wearing the proper uniform and name tag while working.
Comply at all times with Fairmont standards and regulations to encourage safe and efficient hotel operations.
Prepare bar fruit and garnish.
Count liquor for each party.
Stock and clean glassware for bar.
Prepare and serve drinks to guests in a courteous and friendly manner.
Collect payment from guests (when necessary).
Clean bar and dispose of it store unused fruit and garnishes.
Open multiple wine bottles for banquet dinner service.
Prepare banquet liquor room for next day.
Comply with and enforce all local liquor laws.
