What You Will Do:

We are seeking a Senior Business Development Manager! In this key role, you will drive business development activities for Astronautics complete portfolio military and commercial avionics products and services. You will be primarily responsible for the sales growth of Astronautics products and services with the U.S. Department of Defense component services and/or various Tier-1 U.S. defense O.E.M.s and select defense-industry partners. In this role, you will be responsible for overall opportunity pipeline development, forecasting bookings and revenue targets and meeting assigned sales targets. You will act as a primary customer-facing company representative internally and externally.

You will report directly to the Director of Business Development.

How You Will Do It:

  • Technically understand and persuasively communicate the scope of Astronautics' technology, products, and capabilities.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key military, government, OEM, and aviation/aerospace customers.
  • Proactively understand the customer's needs and architect solutions of products/services that best position Astronautics to propose and win new business.
  • Create written materials that promote capabilities, explain technologies, and define value propositions to capture new business.
  • Manage the proposal preparation and approval process, including helping drive complex proposals in response to significant customer requests.
  • Develop and execute strategic marketing plans, pursuit plans and value-based pricing strategies that position the company to win new programs.
  • Create and maintain new business opportunity records, customer contacts, and sales forecasts via internal CRM tools.
  • Act as a catalyst for innovative thinking inside the company by persuasively communicating market-driven insights and customer needs.
  • Represent the company at industry events and tradeshows.

What We Look For:

Required:

  • A bachelor's degree in engineering, business, marketing or another relevant field of study from an accredited university. Five years of previous military-focused technical sales experience may be accepted in lieu of a bachelor's degree.
  • Minimum of five years' experience in (or closely supporting) a business development/sales role selling directly to United States DOD Agencies and/or aircraft manufacturers, and/or Tier-1 aerospace systems suppliers.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen and able to obtain a U.S. government security clearance (if required).
  • Deep understanding of U.S. Government / U.S. Military procurement processes, budgeting/funding, and FAR/DFAR contracting regulations.
  • Proven track record of driving new business growth in a high-technology avionics and/or aviation systems business.
  • Sound understanding of value-based selling, defining winning value-propositions and value-pricing.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Desired:

  • Prior experience as an active member of the U.S. military aviation community.
  • Existing network of relationships with U.S. DOD agencies and US military project/program offices.
  • Existing network of relationships with aircraft manufacturers and Tier-1 aerospace systems suppliers.
  • Knowledge of avionics and communications systems and functionality.
  • Broad network of customer relationships and an in-depth understanding of U.S. Air Force, U.S. Army, Air National Guard and U.S. Navy project/program offices.
  • Master's degree in engineering or technical discipline, business management, or a relevant field of study from an accredited university.
  • Eight plus years of experience and demonstrated success with U.S. Military sales.
