In this role, the successful candidate Under the direction of the Revenue Cycle Management team and the assigned Manager/ Supervisor, the FGP Business Associate is responsible for obtaining, scanning, and filing patient medical records, working assigned work queues, and facilitating revenue cycle and patient financial needs.
Job Responsibilities:
- Scanning patient financial documents and insurance information for billing purposes
- Accurately and efficiently enter data from various sources, including paper forms and digital documents
- Verify and proofread data for accuracy and completeness, identifying and correcting any errors
- Categorize and classify data according to established guidelines and procedures
- Follow established data entry protocols and quality control procedures.
- Maintain confidentiality and security of sensitive data.
- Adapt to and learn new data entry systems and software as needed.
- Perform other administrative tasks as assigned.
- Maintain cooperative and professional relationships with office and clinical staff.
- Answer phones. Provide information, take messages or redirect calls to the appropriate person.
- Ability to be flexible regarding responsibilities when needed
- Generate reports and perform data analysis as needed.
- All other related duties as required.
Patient Experience and Access
- Serves as NYU Langone Health Faculty Group Practice Brand Ambassador by upholding the NYULH Mission, vision and values and promoting excellence in the patient experience, during every encounter.
- Drives consistency in every patient and colleague encounter by embodying the core principles of our FGP Service Strategy CARES (Connect, Align, Respond, Ensure, and Sign-Off)
- Greets patients warmly and professionally, stating name and role, and clearly communicates each step of the care/interaction as appropriate
- Works collaboratively with colleagues and site management to ensure a positive experience and timely resolution for all patient interactions and inquiries whether in person, by phone or via electronic messaging.
- Proactively anticipates patient needs, and participates in service recovery by applying the LEARN model (Listen, Empathize, Apologize, Resolve, Notify), and escalates to leadership as appropriate.
- Shares ideas or any observed areas of opportunity, to improve patient experience and patient access, with appropriate leadership. (i.e. ways to optimize provider schedules, how to minimize delays, increase employee engagement, etc.)
- Partners with Patient Access Center and Central Billing Office team members to support collaboration and promote a positive patient experience.
Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a HS Diploma. Strong knowledge of Front end hospital registration and /or practice operations is a must. Knowledge of insurance companies verification and benefit tools including web sites etc. Ability to compose and edit logical, detailed, comprehensive and grammatically correct correspondence. Ability to effectively communicate with a wide variety of personnel including patients, families, physicians and staff. Knowledge of medical terminology. Experience and competency with varied computer hardware and software, including registration and billing systems, word processing, spreadsheet, database, scheduling, communications. Training on appropriate systems will be provided. Ability to handle matters of highly confidential and sensitive nature. Ability to recognize and identify problems, recognize implications and propose alternative solutions. Skill in prioritizing assignments to complete work in a timely manner. Skill in working independently and in following through on assignments with minimal direction.
Preferred Qualifications:
Associate's Degree plus 2-3 years experiences in hospital admissions or medical records or patient accounts or in related field. EPIC experience is a plus.
Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $41,977.18 - $63,101.37 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
