Job Summary

Perform a variety of work in the maintenance and repair of buildings and grounds in multiple locations, including carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and painting tasks.

Primary Duties

Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. These duties and responsibilities will be rated on the Annual Performance Review.

  • Responsible for troubleshooting and performing minor repairs to all buildings and facilities. Repairs may include, but are not limited to electrical, HVAC, general carpentry, plumbing and masonry work.
  • Completion of monthly/quarterly/annual preventive maintenance duties.
  • Responsible for performing basic rough and finish carpentry work and preparing various surfaces for paint, enamel, lacquer, varnish, or stain.
  • Responsible for picking up and dropping off supplies needed from stores, vendors or other work sites. This will include dump runs and dropping off and picking up vehicles that need to go in for maintenance.
  • Assist custodial staff in general building, grounds, and equipment maintenance as required.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Report to supervisor any safety hazard
  • Maintains a clean, neat orderly work area
  • Complies and coordinates with all policies and procedures
  • Comply with OSHA guidelines and local codes
  • Participate in all other training required by funding source(s) and/or the Corporation such as Human Rights training
  • Perform other responsibilities as assigned

Qualifications: Education, Experience, and Certification(s)

  • High school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) required.
  • Minimum five (5) years work experience in carpentry, plumbing, electrical or HVAC.
  • Minimum two (2) years experience providing maintenance and repairs of buildings is required.
  • Professional certifications in HVAC and electrical work preferred.
  • Valid driver's license and good motor vehicle record (MVR) required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondences, and memos, labels and numbers.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situation to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
  • Proficiency with small machinery such as pressure washers and power tools.
  • Basic ability to operate a computer using Microsoft Office software.
  • Must be able to pass criminal and drug screening processes to meet current Company and/or government eligibility requirements that apply or become applicable to this position.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is working inside and outside buildings and is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
