Responsibilities for this Position

ROLE AND POSITION OBJECTIVES:

As an Electrical Hardware Design Engineer, you will be a key part of a cross-disciplinary team responsible for designing advanced electronic hardware. You will have the opportunity to be involved in all program phases, including requirements analysis, schematic capture, defining routing constraints, directing PCB/PWB layout and routing activities, and supporting the manufacturing, integration & test, and qualification. You will collaborate with both internal and external stakeholders to develop hardware that meets their high expectations. In this role, you will primarily support the development of new 3U VPX modules that enable mission-critical systems to be more capable, cyber-resilient, and survivable.

We encourage you to apply if you have any of these preferred skills or experiences: designing electrical hardware using the Siemens/Mentor Graphics Xpedition tool suite, high-speed digital and high-density circuit card design incorporating embedded processors and/or FPGAs, and knowledge of VITA/VPX standards including VITA 46, 48, 62, and 65.

What sets you apart:

  • Understanding of the hardware development process throughout the lifecycle of a program, including design for manufacturing and design for test.
  • Experience with circuit card designs, including using advanced materials, packaging techniques, and high-speed interfaces (10G+ Ethernet, PCIe Gen 4+, etc.) for use in 3U VPX modules.
  • Working knowledge of the Siemens/Mentor Graphics Xpedition tool suite for schematic entry, constraint manager, and HyperLynx Signal Integrity/Power Integrity analysis.
  • Hands-on experience using multimeters, oscilloscopes, and other test equipment to verify and validate hardware designs.
  • Ability to persevere through design challenges with minimal direction and take ownership of tasking.
  • Attention to detail, including identifying and resolving potential design issues early, ensuring a high-quality product at all program stages.
  • Exceptional communication skills with the capacity to drive innovation and secure buy-in on your concepts and ideas.
  • Problem-solving and critical thinking skills, breaking down complex technical problems logically and finding efficient solutions.
  • Cross-disciplinary communication skills, working effectively with firmware, mechanical, and manufacturing teams.
  • Team collaboration, offering and receiving feedback constructively, and mentoring junior engineers when needed.

Our Commitment to You:

  • An exciting career path with opportunities for continuous learning and development.
  • Research oriented work, alongside award winning teams developing practical solutions for our nation's security
  • Flexible schedules with every other Friday off work, if desired (9/80 schedule)
  • Competitive benefits, including 401k matching, flex time off, paid parental leave, healthcare benefits, health & wellness programs, employee resource and social groups, and more
