Job Description Develop and implement cost-effective automated methods of assembling and testing manufactured products including final assemblies, in some cases large systems. This equipment consists of electrical, electronic, mechanical measurement and controls, mechanical fixtures and test software which are used in global manufacturing facilities to produce Rockwell Automation products. You will report to the Team Lead, Fabrication Services. You will work hybrid from Milwaukee or Mequon, WI.
Your Responsibilities:
- Participate in the new product design evaluation process. Provide design for assembly/test feedback and or requirements to the product team during the design development to assure assembly and test coverage. Based on the design requirements develop a plan to assemble/test completed assemblies. Manage and communicate project timelines and action plans effectively to deliver cost effective solutions on schedule and budget.
- Assist in development and implementation of departmental objectives. Help implement production and test strategies to meet financial objectives. Maintain and track project financials and timelines to meet the assigned project deliverables.
- Develop and implement strategies for the procurement and installation of functional capital equipment required for Rockwell production facilities.
- Responsible for designing fixtures and connectors, properly sizing components and working with vendors to develop fixtures. With guidance from a more senior engineer, select proper mechanical components and fixturing based on product requirements to ensure a safe, reliable, manufacturing system.
- Develop and debug fixtures to control the mechanical components of the functional system, providing a robust, reliable and repeatable manufacturing system.
- Create and release documentation on the mechanical portion of the solution.
- Assembly and detail drawings of the fixtures and components in Creo/Pro/E solid models.
- Pneumatic schematics in PTC Creo sketcher.
- Fixture BOM (Bill of Materials).
- Assembly and schematic drawings released into appropriate source control location.
- Use of appropriate Lean Six Sigma tools for test equipment qualification, test system problem solving, and identification and implementation of continuous improvement opportunities.
- Provides manufacturing technical support assisting in troubleshooting systems to resolve crisis downtime situations in Rockwell Automation plants.
The Essentials - You Will Have:
- Bachelor's Degree in engineering
- Legal authorization to work in the U.S. We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job opening.
- The ability to travel 25% of the time.
The Preferred - You Might Also Have:
- Bachelor's degree Mechanical Engineering (ME) or Mechanical Engineering Technology (MET), equivalent education, or experience.
- 2+ years' experience as a mechanical design engineer contributing to a team-oriented project environment, including design and development of equipment for production.
- Experience developing and implementing CAD software using languages or platforms such as PTC Creo, SolidWorks, AutoCad, etc.
- Candidate must have the ability to read and interpret new product designs consisting of electrical and mechanical equipment design drawings, bills of materials, design and functional specifications.
- Knowledge of electronic hardware.
- Excellent troubleshooting, analysis, and problem-solving skills.
- Good written and verbal communications in English.
- Proficient using Microsoft Office programs.
