The Systems Administrator is a foundational IT position responsible for the technical planning, design, implementation, performance management, security, and recovery process for IT infrastructure systems that support business applications. This role ensures that IT infrastructure systems are stable, supportable, scalable, and secure through developing a strong architecture and its components. The Systems Administrator is expected to have applied experience in designing, installing, upgrading, and maintaining infrastructure hardware, software, storage, network, and telephony systems. This role requires a high degree of coordination between various teams within the IT department.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work with other team members in the IT Infrastructure team to plan and design architecture of infrastructure systems that reside in the company's data centers and in the cloud
  • Take ownership in providing integrity of production application environments to minimize unplanned outages and business disruption
  • Identify, research, and evaluate available technologies in the marketplace to enhance operational performance
  • Ensure that infrastructure systems support business applications and are performant, including development, testing, and production environments
  • Provide operational and administrative support of infrastructure systems within the company's technology portfolio
  • Identify and remediate impact of new technology introduction to existing system landscape
  • Participate in IT infrastructure vendor solicitations to select the best products and services for the company's needs and to develop future state roadmaps
  • Work closely with and monitor the activities of external service providers
  • Anticipate risks and issues and implement mitigating solutions
  • Liaise with systems vendors and other third parties as needed to provide timely and cost-effective customer support
  • Create, update, and maintain infrastructure documentation including architecture diagrams, functional designs, configuration settings, data models, etc.
  • Participate in SOX testing and provide SOX-compliance evidence
  • Assist in training Help Desk staff to handle ticketed issues as part of Level 1 and Level 2 support
  • Use broad functional and technical skills, expertise, and experience to help with issue remediation in other areas of IT as needed
  • Lead and manage IT deployment projects
  • Monitor and optimize cloud costs where applicable

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum of fifteen (15+) years of experience in IT infrastructure and systems administration OR minimum of ten (10+) years of experience in IT infrastructure and systems administration AND a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Engineering, or related field
  • Familiar with SOX processes and compliance
  • Familiar with ITIL standards and SLA measures
  • Strong understanding of virtualization solutions
  • Strong understanding of Data Protection solutions
  • Strong understanding of Cloud solutions such as Azure, Microsoft 365 and related technologies
  • Working knowledge in best practices for virtual infrastructure design and implementation
  • Working knowledge and understanding of Cybersecurity best practices including zero trust methodology
  • Working knowledge of basic networking principles
  • Ability to work off-hours as needed to minimize disruption to business

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in oil and gas industry
  • Experience in process automation using technologies such as PowerShell and Ansible
  • Ability to think strategically and execute tactically
  • Ability to review, analyze, and solve complex functional and technical issues
  • Process oriented with a strong attention to detail
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, nimble environment where priorities may change
  • Strong organization and analytical skills
  • Ability to be a self-starter and a team player
  • Ability to lead by influence
