Commissary Operational Service Manager Overview:

Sun Country Airlines is seeking a Commissary Operational Service Manager to manage overall operations of the Catering department and be responsible for the effective and successful oversight of labor, training, productivity, quality control, and safety measures as established. The Commissary OSM will also ensure safe and efficient operations and Catering equipment and enhance the operational procedure, systems, and principles in the areas of information flow and management, business processes, enhanced management reporting. They will also look for opportunities to expand systems and carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with company policies and applicable laws.

Essential roles and responsibilities of a Commissary Operational Service Manager:

  • Provide leadership for employee relations through effective communications, including coaching, discipline, and recognition
  • Mentor employees to build bench strength for promotional opportunities.
  • Daily operational tracking of performance, taking immediate action to correct any shortfalls
  • Collaborate with the Airport Coordination Center and ramp team to ensure processes are safe and efficient
  • Administer organizational polices and provide accountable oversight of all the duties and responsibilities of Catering operations.
  • Participate in safety audits and PM checks of all Catering equipment
  • Manage, track, and maintain accountability for all commissary/catering drivers and production assistants.
  • Measures and analyzes team performance through the use of operational metrics, job shadowing, and direct observation
  • Acts as a change champion in their operational work area, solidifying now processes and procedures into the operation
  • Maintain and track catering equipment and supplies
  • Supervise, plan, and assign the daily operation and tasks of the commissary/catering drivers and production assistants
  • Conduct shift briefings to ensure staff is organized and informed
  • Complete shift reports and validate timecards for any review or changes
  • Ensure that personnel adhere to established company and federal safety regulations
  • Prepare incident reports as needed for violations of company policy and safety or security events
  • Ensure warehouse and catering areas are safe and free of Foreign Objects Debris (FOD) and that all catering equipment and property are properly maintained
  • Follow safety regulations, which include the proper use of catering equipment and wearing proper safety PPE
  • Any other duties assigned by management


The required qualifications we are looking for in a Commissary Operational Service Manager include:



  • Two or more years of related experience
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to work efficiently under time constraints
  • Possess a valid driver's license
  • Available to work varying shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays


Preferred Skills:



  • Previous experience with managing flexible workforces
  • Previous airline experience
  • Bachelor or Associate degree in aviation management or related field

Work Environment:

This job operates outdoors in all kinds of weather, this includes extreme cold and in all type of precipitation. While working on the deice pads this position will be exposed to the extreme noise of aircrafts arriving and departing.

Physical Demands:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands or finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance, and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 60 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. This position will be required to occasionally push/pull up to 300 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Additional Notes:

Must be able to obtain an MSP SIDA badge and customs seal.
