SUMMARY

As a Tooling Supervisor, you will be responsible for overseeing the tooling department in an injection molding facility, coordinating with production teams, and driving tooling improvements to ensure the highest standards of safety, quality, and efficiency. This pivotal role requires strong leadership skills, technical expertise, and a collaborative approach to problem-solving. You will play a pivotal role in ensuring daily operations run smoothly.

  • Operational Oversight:Manage shift schedules, assign tasks based on team members' skills, and monitor workflow to ensure efficiency and adherence to production goals. Quickly address any issues, allocate resources effectively, and coordinate with other departments as needed.
  • Quality & Safety Standards:Implement and enforce strict quality control and safety protocols, conducting regular inspections and training sessions. Your commitment to maintaining a safe workplace and producing high-quality products is essential to our company's reputation and success.
  • Training & Development:Identify skill gaps, provide ongoing training, and support the professional growth of your team members. You will help staff adapt to new technologies and evolving production processes, ensuring that everyone is equipped to perform at their best.
  • Problem-Solving:Tackle challenges as they arise, from tooling malfunctions to personnel issues, always seeking practical solutions that keep our operations running smoothly.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

May include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Manage the day-to-day activities of tool room personnel and equipment.
  • Oversee tool changes of family molds to facilitate production of different products.
  • Direct the work of tool room personnel in the completion of work orders and work assignments.
  • Organize, catalog, and maintain tooling and mold storage
  • Obtain quotes and request purchase orders for all outside work requested of tooling department
  • Track and maintain tooling expenses and report out to Management as required.
  • Organize and track spare parts and consumables
  • Coordinate preventative maintenance of tooling and work orders assignments in EMaint system.
  • Oversee training of new tool room personnel and monitoring of progression plans for tool room personnel.
  • Operate overhead cranes and lift trucks as needed to assist in the transport and repair of tool cavities, cores and molds.
  • Assist in the repair and maintenance of tools and proper use of various hand tools, power tools, lifts, gages, etc.
  • Maintain the tool room to provide a safe and hazard free environment.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must have tool room management/supervisory experience for tooling repairs, tool design reviews and preventative maintenance.
  • Must have experience with tool room equipment (i.e. mills, grinders, welders.)
  • 7-10 years' experience in plastic injection molding tooling required.
  • Experience with SolidWorks and Lean manufacturing preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to relate to others with understanding and empathy.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of part and mold complexities, including plastic injection molds.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Must be able to work Monday to Friday from 6am to 4pm.
