We are excited to announce an opportunity for a Utility Coordinator for Transportation Engineering Projects to join our team in Indiana.

As a Utility Coordinator for Transportation Engineering, you will play a critical role in managing utility coordination for transportation and public works projects, working primarily with INDOT and local agencies. Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Leading utility coordination services for transportation and public works projects.
  • Scheduling and facilitating utility coordination meetings.
  • Acting as the primary liaison between DLZ and all utilities involved in the project.
  • Conducting site visits with the design team and utilities to identify potential conflicts and assess utility relocation routes.
  • Reviewing design plans and identifying utility conflicts.
  • Analyzing and reviewing utility relocation plans submitted by utility companies.
  • Collaborating with the design team and utilities to resolve conflicts and coordinate necessary relocations.
  • Actively participating in client meetings related to utility coordination and offering expert advice.
  • Developing and preparing utility relocation timelines to align with the overall project construction schedule.
  • Preparing and updating utility coordination progress reports and relocation schedules.
  • Ensuring all work is conducted in a safe and responsible manner in accordance with DLZ's Health and Safety Plan.

To be successful in this role, you should meet the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field, OR
  • At least four years of experience in the highway or utility industry, with a minimum of one year in utility coordination and/or relocation efforts.
  • INDOT utility coordination certification is preferred.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and/or MicroStation for reviewing utility conflicts and relocation designs.
  • Experience with the development and/or review of utility relocation designs.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to visit construction and project sites, traverse them safely, and comply with all applicable safety codes and requirements.
