Position Overview
The University of Kansas Department of Educational Leadership and Policy Studies (ELPS) is building a lecturer pool of qualified individuals to serve as lecturers to teach in its online Master of Science in Educational Leadership program. This program prepares pre-K-12 teachers for roles at the school-building level and leads to building-level licensure in Kansas.

ELPS invites candidates to submit applications, which will be reviewed and placed in a pool for consideration as openings arise. Applications will be accepted throughout the year and appointments will be made as needed. Please be advised that the need for lecturers varies from year to year.

Lecturers will be responsible for assigned online courses. This may involve consulting with the online instructional design team and course author to update and ensure that all aspects of the course function effectively. Lecturer appointments may vary from .25 depending on the number of courses taught in one calendar year. Lecturers contribute to the mission of the University of Kansas, the School of Education, and the Department of Educational Leadership and Policy Studies; and must adhere to all departmental, school, and university policies.

Lecturers may be needed to teach the following courses: The Principalship, Education in American Society, School Resource Management, Data-Driven Leadership, Education Law, Human Resource Management, Staff Evaluation and Development, and Internship.

Applicants will be reviewed and considered for teaching positions as needs arise. Applicants will be accepted throughout the year. The successful applicant must have appropriate authorization to work in the U.S. before employment begins.

Due to complex state employment laws, the University of Kansas may be unable to hire fully remote workers for this position outside of Kansas. Specifically, we cannot currently offer employment to candidates residing in the following states: California and Delaware. Job Description
Lecturers are non-tenure-track members of the faculty with limited term appointments, whose primary role is instructional with no obligations to perform research or service.

Responsibilities:
50% - Provide instruction in online courses, including grading assignments, providing students with timely feedback and updated information about progress in course, give students clear feedback and mentoring regarding performance improvements; hold consistent virtual office hours with students in the online environment including asynchronous and real time

20% - Successfully implement course protocols as designed by the instructional design team and course author, including, learning objectives and procedures for teaching using the new online platforms

10% - Update and maintain assessment protocols to document student-learning outcomes in the online work

10% - Consult and collaborate with department staff about research-based changes to courses

10% - Maintain clear records of all evaluations of student work and progress toward program completion

Required Qualifications
  1. An earned doctorate in Education, Educational Leadership, Educational Administration, or other research related fields
  2. Record of research, scholarship, or achievement in Educational Leadership or closely related field.
  3. Excellent written and verbal skills as evidenced in published academic work, interview, and course evaluations

Preferred Qualifications
  1. A minimum of 5 years of experience in successful Educational Administration/Leadership
  2. Demonstrated success teaching fully online courses in an equivalent graduate program
  3. Demonstrated expertise in teaching the relevant course content
  4. Demonstrated proficiency with a wide range of technology applications specific to the online program environment including asynchronous course management systems, advisement, and learning management systems.

Advertised Salary Range
$4,000-$4,500 with doctoral degree. Salary may be adjusted depending on number of students in a course.
