The School of Criminal Justice, Rutgers University invites applications for Lecturer teaching positions in the undergraduate and MA programs during the Fall 2025 Semester.
Successful applicants will develop and instruct on one or more of the following topics and course levels/locations:
Undergraduate courses at Rutgers-Newark: Gender, Crime, and Violence (in person); Contemporary Policing (in person); White Collar Crime (in person, intensive writing); Crime in Different Cultures (online, synchronous, intensive writing); Pursuit of Justice (in person).
Undergraduate courses at Community College of Morris: Criminal Justice Research Methods (online), Comparative Criminal Justice Systems (in person), White Collar Crime (in person).
Undergraduate courses (in person) at NJ-
STEP affiliated correctional facilities in northern and southern New Jersey; Pursuit of Justice, Inequality, Criminal Justice Research Methods, Data Analysis in Criminal Justice, various Criminal Justice and Justice Studies electives or other Topics in Justice Studies courses
MA courses at Rutgers-Newark: Intelligence and National Security (online); Masters Project Seminar (online); Accounting and Financial Basics (online); Financial Crime (in person).
Instructors shall prepare and submit course syllabi, meet and provide pedagogically appropriate instruction during assigned class times, provide timely student feedback, respond to student emails, adhere to grade submission policies and deadlines, and if the option is available, attend an orientation. In classes that have a research focus, instructors shall follow appropriate Institutional Review Board policies and procedures to ensure the protection of human subjects.
Course appointments on the Rutgers Newark campus and the Rutgers off-campus site located at the County College of Morris report to the Dean of the School of Criminal Justice; course appointments at NJ-
STEP affiliated correctional facilities in northern and southern New Jersey report to the Executive Director of the NJ-
STEP program. |

Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience |
Masters or Juris Doctorate Required.
Doctorate Preferred.
Demonstrated ability to teach at the university level.
Applicants with comparable degrees from accredited institutions may also be considered. Prior teaching experience is also preferred.

Overview |
The School of Criminal Justice at Rutgers University-Newark was founded in 1974 by an act of the New Jersey Legislature-the only school in America with this kind of legal charter. Its purposes have always been to (1) produce scholarship of the highest quality on crime and justice (2) provide state and local justice agencies with crucial evidence and consultation about the policy and practice of criminal justice, and (3) produce graduates who take their places as productive and respected scholars in the field. |

Immunization Requirements
Under Policy 100.3.1 Immunization Policy for Covered Individuals, if employment will commence during Flu Season, Rutgers University may require certain prospective employees to provide proof that they are vaccinated against Seasonal Influenza for the current Flu Season, unless the University has granted the individual a medical or religious exemption.
