As part of a hardworking team of diverse experts, you will help in the testing of Engines for various Vehicle configurations. You will share in the team's impact on all aspects of aerospace manufacturing while working with the team to keep the shop functioning at a high level. This position will directly impact the history of space exploration and will require your dedicated commitment and detailed attention toward safe and repeatable spaceflight.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct hands-on maintenance and modifications on engines.
  • Fabricate, install, and perform checkout of wire harnesses.
  • Integrate and conduct checkout of test articles.
  • Inspect flight hardware and instrumentation systems.
  • Review, edit, and adhere to test procedures and processes.
  • Operate test facilities and ground support equipment.
  • Troubleshoot instrumentation and flight avionics systems.
  • Collaborate with engineers on design concepts, improvements, and development tests.
  • Perform scheduled inspections on tested and qualified engines.
  • Handle and transport engines from test stands to engine processing facilities.
  • Maintain and inspect engine tooling.
  • Engage daily with test and design engineers.
  • Travel to test sites to support missions approximately 15% of the year.
  • Work safely with hazardous chemicals, cryogenics, and high-pressure systems.
  • Demonstrate the ability to work effectively both in a team setting and as an individual contributor. Execute tasks assigned by leadership to benefit the engines team.
  • Foster a balanced and motivated team environment.
  • Conduct operations at elevated heights.
  • Be responsible for all I&C work assigned to the group.
  • Instrumental in training Maintenance Technicians (MTs) in I&C work.
  • Review work orders, helping identify critical spares.
  • Coordinate with Maintenance Engineers.
  • Serve as a foundational employee to set the group up for future success.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent certification.
  • 5+ years of experience in an electronics trade with proficiency in troubleshooting low voltage systems, 4-20mA signals, and thermocouples.
  • Relevant experience in fields such as automotive, aviation, or farm equipment.
  • Ability to read and comprehend electrical and fluid diagrams.
  • Experience with data acquisition systems, instrumentation, and general electronics.
  • Proficient in using calibrated tools such as torque wrenches and multimeters.
  • Familiarity with fluid fittings, including AN, MS, and compression fittings.
  • Physical capability to lift 50 lbs, work in adverse weather conditions, and climb stairs and ladders.
  • Ability to perform physical activities such as lifting, standing, climbing, bending, grasping, sitting, pulling, pushing, stooping, stretching, and carrying as required by the position.
  • Willingness to work all required shift hours, including overtime and weekends, as needed.
  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certifications: IPC/WHMA-A-620, MIL-DTL-22520, NASA-STD-8739, J-STD-001, and/or ANSI/ESD S20.20.
  • Experience fabricating cable harness assemblies, including power, signal, and data cables.
  • Working knowledge of rocket propellants, including Liquid Oxygen and cryogenic fuels.
  • Experience in setting up and routing large volumes of low voltage wiring.
  • Familiarity with WAGO push-in termination blocks or similar systems.
  • Experience in handling aerospace components.
  • Proven experience in propulsion facility systems.
  • Experience with vehicle launch systems.
  • Strong understanding of aerospace propulsion systems.
  • Ability to quickly adapt to changing roles and responsibilities in a fast-paced and challenging work environment.
  • Experience operating heavy lifting equipment, such as cranes and forklifts.
  • Proficiency in operating aerial lifts, scissor lifts, and other vehicles used for maintenance at heights.
  • Understanding of 5S principles and tool control measures.
