About the Department |
The candidate's research duties in Sitar's Research Group will be in the area of fabrication of semiconductor devices, growth and processing of
III- nitride-based semiconductor devices, lasers, avalanche photodiodes, power switches, characterization and testing of materials and devices, development of new ideas and approaches and solutions to devices, and design of laboratory equipment. |
Essential Job Duties |
Duties will focus on the areas of processing of
III-nitride-based semiconductor devices, lasers, avalanche photodiodes, power switches, characterization and testing of materials and devices, development of new ideas and approaches and solutions to devices, and design of laboratory equipment.
The Research Assistant will be expected to conduct research independently, as well as collaboratively with the rest of the research group. This position will also be under the supervision of Dr. Sitar, and include collaboration with current students.
They will collect data for technical reports, publications, and presentations, provide a summarization of the information to the rest of the team during the weekly group meetings, as well as be expected to interpret their own results independently. In addition, duties will include supporting growth of
III-nitrides by metalorganic chemical vapor deposition and maintaining any related equipment. |
Other Responsibilities |
This position will require discussion and analysis of experimental results, specifically in the area of semiconductor device fabrication.
The candidate will be expected to contribute ideas and results from their research and experiments to assist in the development of new proposals and to maintain a strong collaborative relationship with the other collaborators on the research team. |
Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience |
- Master's degree in Technology, Electronics and Communication Engineering, or directly related field, or Bachelor's degree and three or more years of relevant experience.

Other Required Qualifications |
- Conduct research independently, as well as collaboratively with the rest of the research group.
- Excellent written and oral communications skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines.
- Ability to work independently and as a team player.
