Overview
PURPOSE STATEMENT: The Junior System Administrator is responsible for managing Hawaii Gas IT infrastructure, which includes both physical and virtual servers, as well as the data and applications hosted on them. This role involves designing, deploying, troubleshooting, and maintaining the hardware and systems that support the company's operations. This position is hands-on and technical in nature, requiring the Junior System Administrator to stay up-to-date with the latest IT trends and developments. This position will play a key role in identifying and communicating technological changes that align with the Hawaii Gas business and technology needs.
Responsibilities
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES:
OTHER FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ensures the security, integrity, and privacy of Hawaii Gas computer data.
- Complies with all safety rules and cooperates in the fullest in the promotion of safety and safe work habits, to include the reporting of any unsafe conditions or acts. Maintains all EH&S training on a current basis.
- Complies with all applicable corporate and Hawaii Gas policies and procedures.
- Maintains assigned work area and equipment in a clean, orderly and safe manner; performs housekeeping duties as required and/or instructed. Works in a safe and responsible manner.
- Performs all other related duties as instructed by supervisor/manager.
Qualifications
Required Education and/or Work Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Information Systems or 4 years of related experience and education.
- 1-3 years of experience in helpdesk or entry level Information Technology role.
- Proficient in Microsoft 365 and Windows-based PCs.
- Experience with Active Directory, file shares, and Microsoft Windows Server.
Preferred Education and/or Work Experience:
- 1-2 years of experience in system administration.
- Experience with troubleshooting in a variety of systems, including Virtualization, Microsoft Windows Server, Microsoft SQL Server, Microsoft Exchange Server, Microsoft SharePoint Online, Azure/EntraID, SCCM and other Microsoft and industry-standard technologies.
- Experience with managing network infrastructure.
- Experience with Hypervisiors/Virtual Machines, AHV, ESXi OR Hyper-V.
- Experience with Powershell or Python.
- Exposure to cloud technology (Azure/GCP/AWS)
